« on: October 20, 2004, 06:01:39 PM »
Found out last night that our guys doing our lane prep are using like 80 units of oil walled out to the 10 board on each side........not to mention it goes out to 42 ft....and we just got brandnew Brunswick proanvil lanes in........man I hate oil.....and not to mention they not even stripping right.......so there goes my average......

Got plenty of it ......but the problem is the stripping.....too much carrydown....and they supposed to use hot water for the soultion and they use cold....guess I should expect things like that from college guys working in a bowling alley huh.....

well if your average goes down than everyones will go down, with strokers going way down, crankers going down a little bit. Shouldnt matter too much, except you wont be able to brag about your high average.

Man I love oil.  80 units to 42 foot, means you can't ever go brooklyn.

PS, what stripper are they using.  Haven't heard of one that has to be used hot before.

Very very true....the thing is though....if ya work in a bowling alley you really need to be interested in bowling.....and the sad part is in bowling this month it gives the lane conditions that they test balls on and the oily ones(patterns) are no more than 55 units most of the time......just makes me mad kinda.....to think they spend all that money upgrading and no time to read a magazine or call brunswick and ask to help them setup a shot......

Believe its a brunswick one.....think it has to be hot cause of the chemicals in it are activated by hot water......hot water does clean better so I can see a point in using it......

Just a couple of observations.  There isn’t much difference between 10 units or oil and 80 units of oil.  A particle ball will skid on 10 units.  The only thing the extra units do is let the pattern last longer.  I doubt very much if they are running 80 units the entire 42 foot, probably only thru the heads.

As  far as the stripper goes, I haven’t seen any lane machine with a water heater in it.  Think about your complaint.  They heat the stripper up, pour it into the machine, run a couple of lanes.  The solution cools down.  Are they then supposed to dump it out, reheat more to finish the rest of the lanes.

What it sounds like to me is the house has changed the shot and people are having to move out of their comfort zone.  Welcome the chance to try something different.

You're right though, going to take a while to figure the shot out.  Plenty of oil on the slickest lane surface available.
