Raising my track
« on: August 22, 2009, 02:19:49 AM »
I track low almost a spinner but i want to experiment and raise my track to almost an inch or two from my thumb hole. How can I do this and keep my strong backend motion and continuation?

Approach the game with no preset agendas and you''ll probably come away surprised at your overall efforts.

You are turning your hand too soon. Stay behind the ball longer.

funny when this comes I'm going back to my old release after trying to stay behind the ball and come around it I finally got my track right next to the thumb hole and have had poor results. On certain conditions it was great but was takin too much practice to do, too much work and harder on my body. I'm going back to the spinner release with my low track and wish I never tried to lower my track. I've managed to drop my average this month on both my leagues and missing every spare possible.

Buggs -- You've got axis rotation, which has nothing to do with being a spinner, and axis tilt, which has everything to do with being a spinner, mixed up.  And even then you've got your rotation values backward.

machine189 -- Two questions.  Why do you want to raise your track?  And why do you think you're almost a spinner?  If you're satisfied with your ball motion I wouldn't try to change your release.  Regarding being close to a spinner, go to this link

and read my two responses to it so I won't have to rewrite them.  --  JohnP

I agree. only look for ball motion! as long as your ball can read the lanes on most conditions then your good. for the extremes you can change your hand position at the end of your release. small axis rotation to cut through oil and more axis rotation for less oil (if the conditions call for it)

I used to be a "spinner". I put that in quotes because I wasnt your conventional spinner... I covered almost the entire ball and tracked high, BUT I truned my wrist early and was getting near 90 degrees of rotation causing my ball to skid and SNAP on the back.... so dry was my friend and oily was a nightmare.

thats why I say as long as your ball is reading the lanes on all but the extremes then I see no reason to change... just learn to adjust and work on accuracy.

(high and low track does not matter.... the combination of axis tilt and axis rotation does)
