Best Mid Priced Oil Ball
« on: August 16, 2009, 02:24:25 PM »
I'm looking to get a mid priced ball to handle a heavy/longer volume patterns. What are the best choices that are currently available? I'm open to ANY company as long as the price point is not too high. Thanks Everyone!!

My vote is for the Copperhead as well on most medium-heavy. The Ogre Particle is very good as well if you have a higher volume of oil.

I have not yet seen a Clutch but if it performs as advertised then it's going to be an option as well.

Agreed, cherry vibe is not a heavy oil ball. If you go with the copperhead and are really looking for an oiler I think you will be dissapointed. Your money I guess, do what you want.

One of the guys in my PBAX league has used the Copperhead on Shark the past 2 weeks. Don't know what grit it was sanded to, but it was really smooth and predictable for him all night.

Have to give the nod to the Maxx Zone over the Cooperhead for the heavier longer stuff.

I have above average revs and medium speed. My PAP is 4 9/16 over and 3/8 up. I typically do not use big hooking balls very often. I'm looking to fill a hole in my aresenal, as I do not have anything currently if the lanes are tight or heavy/long patterns such as, PBA Scorpion and Shark. The strongest ball I have right now is a Columbia Momentum. To me, this ball is really strong. However, I don't want to touch the surface and leave it at 4000 abralon. It handles the heaviest stuff I see right now, but when I bowl tournaments or go out of town, I am not ready. I do realize that the Python is NOT powrkoil 18 and is polished, I could bring the surface down to 1000 or 500 abralon. I really wanna put the Maxxx Zone into the mix too. The Clutch looks good also. Thanks Everyone!!

I'm looking for PBA Experience conditions such as Shark and Scorpion. I have above average revs, moderate speed and a lot of axis tilt. My PAP is 4 9/16 over and 3/8 up. I've narrowed it down to Brunswick Copperhead, AMF Clutch, or a Brunswick Maxxx Zone. I'd like to stay in the mid priced price point, but since this will be very condition specific, I could sway to the higher end equipment. Thanks everyone. Also, i'd like to stay with products that are PBA registered, as I may bowl a regional or two in the near future.

i like the storm furious but the copperhead has one of the best covers ever. either one would roll well.

Pin Slasher. That thing is an absolute monster on Shark, at least for me.

I was going to say the anger.. this ball is super cheap and can be used on a variety of conditions and the cover is very tuneable to do what you want the ball to do..
keep it dull and it will work pretty well in oil

And I use a visionary green gargoyle on the shark.. this ball is not a heavy oil ball or a any oil ball.. but when it gets to the backend on the shark it snaps like crazy in the 15 feet or so it has to do it..

so there are different ways to approach the pattern.
