Thanks for the opinions and viewpoints... Righty, Gunso and Donuts, each of you had a tidbit of info I can use.
It makes sense to me that Mo is trying to get my ball to flare more and 'react' more since my low tilt leads to less flare. Most of my equipment is 4-5" pin-to-pap, so I was wondering if I'm missing out somewhere lol. I bowl on a combination of house shots, in-between and sport shots. I'm getting more of a handle on why balls react the way they do. I take each ball purchase overly seriously and try to make the most diverse arsenal for the lowest cost. For example...
I had a Paradox, 5" to pap 75deg. I liked it a lot but found myself using my Jackal Ghost drilled similarly moreso. Currently, my main struggle has been 40-ish ft sport patterns (Nationals!). My friend recommended trying 67 x 3 7/8 x 45 in a ball, so I redrilled the Paradox. I've never seen a drilling change a ball so much. At first it rolls out on a shorter pattern (makes sense), didn't really look that good on longer, heavier (might revisit this), but when I practiced on last years Nationals patterns, by far the best reaction over the balls I used at South Point in 2017. And I ended up using that Paradox 5+ games in Syracuse and went from 1671 to 1879 all-events this year on what I thought were very similar patterns 2017 vs. 2018.
The gist is... do I need more of these 3.5-4 inch pins that Mo says? I think so, but conditionally. I appreciate everyone's feedback!
