How do you setup your arsenal?
« on: April 09, 2016, 03:11:48 PM »
I am sure we all of varying methods of setting up a arsenal. How do you do yours?

I try to be brand loyal but this season has not been kind to that. As few variables as possible, so for example I have two Elite Warriors one pin up one pin down. The least amount of cover core combos the better.

no one pays me to throw their stuff so i throw whatever i think will match up. i mostly have control balls though. IQ solid. hammer low flare solid. loco solid. i dont see enough volume to throw anything remotely strong at tournaments.

house shots though 95% of what i see i just bring hammer vibes

Good question. It will be interesting to see the variety of answers.

I carry six balls with me and tend to cycle through all of them. The house shots we see at the houses in my area are varied at best, but I like it since it keeps everybody on their toes and not knowing exactly what's coming next.

As for the setup itself I like to keep a heavy oil asymmetric with surface, a medium-heavy oil asymmetric that's usually polished, a light-medium oil symmetric hybrid or solid with surface, a light-medium symmetric polished pearl, a plastic spare ball, and then the fifth ball depends on what I'm getting out of the two symmetrics.

I just try to cover as many conditions as possible with as little overlap as possible. For house shots I generally never need anything strong.

Shapes, not balls. I'll drill many and change surfaces until I "see" what makes me comfortable. I don't really do the whole "heavy oil" or "medium-heavy" stuff.

Mainzer,

I try and keep it simple.
If I've had success with a certain core/layout combo I will try and find a similar core to try it again.
I understand when you are brand loyal and go away from that there is a learning curve.
When I went away from Global to a mixed bag it was strange.
Finally settled on Bunswick/ Radical because they gave me the motion that I'm comfortable with.
There are a number of qualified drillers in our area.
Stop in and feel them out.
They will give you a different point of view on equipment to try.
You will find something that you can match up with again.
free agency it is until i get a better offer.   LMAO

When building my arsenal, I try to start with my benchmark ball to see where my strengths and weaknesses are at and then build around it. If I have a very good benchmark ball that I like, then I try to stick with balls with a similar coverstock or core if I'm going a step up or step down from my original benchmark ball. As far as layouts, I typically stick with two that I'm comfortable and then tweak with the surface adjustment as needed.
