Title: How Do You Stop From Choking?
Post by: Reality Check on December 12, 2004, 09:17:52 AM
Okay. How do you stop yourself from throwing it all away when you are on a good run of strikes coming into the 10th frame, or in the final of a big event? How do you stop yourself from throwing that bad shot or fluffing the ball.

Reality Is.......Working out how to carry the 10, only to start leaving the 7.

I agree with both the replies.
Stick to your normal routine and just get into the feeling that this is just any other shot that you have made thousands of times.
Let go of your thoughts and let yourself make the shot without going through any extra mental negatives.

Take a deep breath, and clutch up just once, and then you should have more confidence in the next time it comes to a pressured shot.

Taking it one frame at a time, I remember what the first strike in the series was like. As many have said, deep breathing can help as well as positive affirmation before you get up to bowl. You can't think about what you don't want to do- you have to think about relaxing and reaching for what you want to see occur- as good of a shot as possible.
