Doug
I struggled for 2 years to lower my track which was right on the edge of my thumb. I tried all sorts of things and nothing seemed to work and then one day it just happened.
For me it is strictly a matter of keeping my hand and arm very loose along with keeping my hand more inside the ball to where I feel a little extra pressure on my index finger until about the time that the ball is passing my push off knee. This keeps my thumb more locked in which allows me to have zero grip pressure and when I start the turn my thumb just explodes out of the hole. This did raise another issue though if I start my turn to quickly I loose it at the bottom a little and it hurts my revs a bit along with an even lower track.
Something that I find to be odd is that my track stays about the same spot in relation to my fingers and only moves away from the thumb.
I accomplished my goal of getting my track away from my thumb 1/2" though so I don't mind having to deal with the occasional miss hit at the bottom when I am using this release.
I don't think that more right lateral in your thumb will help as someone suggested since as you add right lateral you have to turn the ball a bit farther before your thumb will want to come out naturally. Slightly left of ideal causes your thumb to want to exit earlier.
This is due to the fact that the back of most everyones thumb is near 45° to the bridge line so left is in affect reverse and left, while right is forward and right.
I actually converted my pitches to a single pitch and place the ball at a pretetermined angle to achieve the proper pitch with only left or forward depending on which way I rotate the ball.
Yours translate to .140 at 63° to the bridgeline.
Pic for explanation.
