Are there any current or previous owners who successfully polished the epoxy coverstock? If so, did it fly more on the backend like a resin or did it still maintain its slow arch? I am thinking about polishing mine but I am not sure how the ball will respond to polishing.

DONT DO IT.
I had one back in the day.
Tried a little polish on it, and it killed my ball.
Not sure exactly what polish did to it, but it became the worlds ugliest spare ball for me.

Was that ball one of the biggest flops ever, I think I saw 1.

Yes because the first batch was made in San Antonio in a particularly brutal summer and had massive coverstock cracking issues (as in big chunks of the ball would come off in the ball return). Almost all those are long gone though and the ones left today were a lot more durable. It also didn't catch on because basically it gives a strong urethane reaction on any amount of oil which is not what the market really wants. All about that backend. Also it is super high maintenance (have to give it bath nearly every session) stinks like solder flux and quickly eats its shot and requires a flood up front. I love mine but easy to see why it failed (plus I think it was $300 new originally back over 10 years ago).

+1. Maroon scotch brite is the only thing I will ever use on mine. If I need more shape down lane than this is the wrong ball period.

Somebody used one on TV fairly recently, maybe Chris Barnes before he went to 900 Global? Don't think he won his match though.

Yeah Barnes was a beast with that ball on Wolf pattern from what I heard. Somebody told me one of his EPX balls actually cracked during competition (not on TV I believe).

When was that? The only time I have ever seen anyone throw an EPX on TV was the lefty, Ken Muscato. Does anyone know how many times an EPX was thrown on TV?

I figured that might be the case but I thought I might ask. Some of the grabbiest heavy oil covers of all time seem to be rendered ineffective with polish. I heard the Riptide, Tombstone, and Midnight Scorcher become duds when they are polished.

They are all very high load particle or epoxy covers is why. Polish for more shape is more for regular reactive cover stocks. Polish can also be used on a urethane but tends to tame the reaction instead of push it down lane like with reactives.

Found it, it was the 2014 Wolf Open Chris Barnes threw it in.
