How does one set this UP?
« on: January 30, 2013, 10:19:45 AM »
I saw this video a while ago.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSPin6uO2Z0

Very good bowler this guy, love watching his videos.

At the 1:57 minute mark he puts two pieces of tape on this ball.  I then note the different rolls on the ball.  I believe this application will help one see axis rotation and tilt initially.

How does one put on the tape on the ball to get this look, starting at the 1:57 mark in video above?

Thanks,

Luckylefty
PS any training ideas in using this type of aid?

I have had coaches do this for me.  If it is the same thing, it goes from just above your ring finger diagonally down toward your pap.

So basically a diagonal piece of tape from your pap to just above your ring finger.

I kept thinking there were 2 pieces of tape?

No?

I don't think there is.  His rev rate probably makes it look like there is. :)  If you pause it, you can see one piece of tape.  At least that is what it looks like to my old eyes.

I'm thinking he may have used a piece of white athletic tape. The stuff that you'll see many bowlers use to tape up their wrist...

I've done this on my PAP.  Making sure I am repeating shots.  If not, then I know I need to work on release.

DR3w,

Wow!  You are right!  Also, how did you get that still of the Video!

That is great!

I will tape up and throw.  Hoping to see some axis rotation, some tilt, and some Revs!

Accuracy wouln't be bad either!

Took a screen shot of the film while in full screen.  A little crop job and viola...

Hey Lefty,

Are you a member of BowlingChat.net? If you do a floor video of your ball at release and post it in the coaching section, the good folks in there will tell you all you need to know.

While i appreciate the kind words, I'm just spreading the info as it comes to me. We've had way better members of this site come and go. I just try not to let ego push me in the wrong direction.

…… you can't  add a physics term to a bowling term and expect it to mean something.
