I guess I mean get to represent a ball manufacturer, not sponsered. I am not asking for me, but for a freind, a young very talented bowler that I bowl with. He would benefit greatly from new equipment, on a regular basis. What is the process?

After talking to many Regional players about the same topic as well as three ball companies for another bowler, these are the replies I was given:
bowl in as many different houses as possible (in leagues)carry the high average
enter and win as many local and national tournaments as possible.
be known through your bolwing records, have a great resume, tournaments won, high place finishes.Enter and place at the High Rollers, Nationals and State levels.
have honor scores upon honor scores both on THS, tournament patterns, PBA and Sport Shot patterns.
Here is a nationally know former PBA player, now one of the top regional and amatur players in the USA, this is one of the most impressive bowling resumes in the land, oh to be half as good as Riggs.
check out his resume, Jeff Richgels

What it boils down to is companies have guys on staff to help them sell balls. They want people that will bring attention to their product, have knowledge of the product and can/will talk about the product. So having a recognizable name is what takes care of the "attention" part. I was talking to a regional staffer one time about his contract and what not. He then went on to tell me that at a PBA regional, there was a big wig from the company there, he went into the pro shop and asked the owner how many of his staffers had been in and offered to talk about the new products, the answer was none. The big wig then proceeded to tell all the staffers at that tournament that their contracts would NOT be renewed.
