How does this sound for a tourney?
« on: August 01, 2004, 09:13:50 AM »
I was thinking about trying to set up a "locals only" tourney. Have an elimination system, put people against people with the closes average. Have it be scratch. I hate the seeding system of highest average against lowest average, its just not fair to me. I say put people with close averages against each other, to see who can perform the best that day, ya know? Also, it would be for fun, since juniors cannot accept money. Have an adult, and a junior devision. Maybe have prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, instead of actual cash. Maybe put up a bowling ball for the first place winners, or a certificate for a free bowling ball. And have like certificates to the pro shop for 2nd and 3rd. Then just for S.A.G (Sh!ts and giggles) have the winning junior go against the winning adult, similar to the BR fun tourney. What do you guys think, does this sound reasonable?

Sounds fun to me. A friend of mine a few years back put together a double elimination head to head tournament. First 3 games were qualifying- the top scores went into the winners bracket, the bottom scores in the losers bracket. From there you went head to head against a person for one game at a time- if you lost a second time, you were out of the tournament. It reached the top 5 and then they did one game step ladder to the finals. The two finalists were both 180 average bowlers who never had the pressure of bowling for $1,000 in a tournament...it was interesting to see.
