The Blame Game
« on: April 18, 2005, 03:44:16 PM »
This has got to be one of my favorite things to laugh at... I love hearing bowlers blame everything but themselves for their bad bowling... Ready... These lanes are to wet/dry; there's no shot, they don't maintain the backends, I hate this ball, I'm sticking/sliding to much on the approach, I only have one testicle... I think I have heard it all... Every one of us has bowled with someone like this at some point... These also seem to be the people that never improve and never try to correct the mistakes in their bowling whether it be form or approach... I have to deal with this every week so I'm just venting, feel free to add fuel to the fire

Ego and Laziness. I have been bowling in this house for seven years now. When I started to bowl league in this house in the Winter league of 1998, the leagues were full. It was a 32-lane house and our Tuesday league had 32 teams. There was a scratch league (after our 6:00 P.M. league) at 9:00 P.M. and sometimes I stay to watch them and there was an honor score almost every week or two. This was because the lane pattern was a true wall, outside of the seven board was dry and if they miss outside the ball comes back to the pocket, if they tug, the ball holds to the pocket. A couple of years ago, the shot changed, outside of 5 was out of bounds, there was no longer that much area. Result, there was no more Scratch league at 9:00 P.M. Our league has only 24 teams now. I think the saying should be, "Give them a wall, they will come". It looked like the bowlers who left just wanted to shoot high scores and feel good about themselves to boost their ego but do not want to make the effort to work on their game to solve the pattern that has become challenging.

I've used every excuse in the book.... twice.  Now, the main excuse I use is... I just couldn't find the shot, or if I'm not carrying... I like the excuse of too much ball for the house. he he
