How Far?
« on: January 28, 2010, 02:21:46 PM »
Do you drive to bowl? Just curious, I go about 25 minutes both ways this year.
I have gone an hour both ways one season that is the most I have travelled

Hmmm, depends. For training, I visit local houses. My club's base is at the other side of town, about 30min away, and I have another house in a neighboring town which is 20min away, both about 10 miles. Additionally, there are some bowling lanes close by shopping malls, which are farther away but make a good extra stop when shopping on Saturdays.

For the traveling league, we have to visit houses which are up to 2 hrs drive away from my home city, the longest ride is more than 100 miles! But since the sites are rarely visited more than 1 time per season, this evens out for everyone.

For tournaments, the longest ride has been for me a 300 miles ride to Hamburg, 4.5 hours drive.

Now, about 5 miles, but in the late 70's when I lived in Natchitoches, LA, I drove to Shreveport - about 70 miles each way.  I did that once a week and bowled a double shift for four years.  --  JohnP

right now, i drive about 10mins to get to my bowling alley lol..

back in the day, it was 10mins for one place and about 25mins for the other..

the farthest I've gone was about 20miles to bowl in a league, i only did that because at the time, It was basically the same distance to go there as it was my Regular leagues...

The furthest I drive is 20 miles both ways for league, the shortest is 5 miles. In previous years I'd driven as much as 40 miles each way.

For tournaments I'll usually go anywhere within a 2-3 hour drive. I'll travel further for state, nationals and a couple of other tournaments.
