How fortunate are some of us!!!!
« on: August 21, 2003, 08:09:22 AM »
I say that because there are many of us who have an entire arsenal or TWO sitting in a closet or basement or garage when others have used the same ball for years on end.

I just started thinking about this today for no definate reason. I walked past my ball rack that sits on my back porch (heated and enclosed), and noticed it is full. This rack holds 18 balls. Where did I find the time or money to get all of those, and what was I thinking? I spent money on them just to sit on my porch? How silly. These are aside from the 12 I have at the bowling alley, and the many I have sold in the last 5 months or so.

Do not get me wrong, my hobby/habit of buying balls is not going to change. I just thought of it like this......hey, there is ball X, when I first got it I wanted it so bad, I absolutely had to have it. Well, there it sits, still looks new, has no track wear at all.

I just figured I would throw this out there------anyone else have comments on the stuff they have lying around?

I think there's no reason why good bowlers shouldn't have alot of balls.  Buy what you feel like, its your money.  And if you're good enough you'll make your money back and then some off of your latest purchase so its not like you're at a loss for money.  Although, some of the best bowlers I know have been using the same stuff for 5 years and being scary consistant with it.

I have always been fairly conservative with my equipment purchases, until around 6 months ago, when I decided to update my equipment to hit the tour swing this fall.
Now I've got too much equipment, and I'm confusing myself...

mumzie, that reason is why I usually try to space out the equipment when I get it. If I get 2 or more balls withing 2-3 weeks of eachother usually one of them ends up not getting thrown nearly enough.

I'd like to actually build an arsenal for once.  I got into the habit of buying whatever new ball from Storm there was out.  Lol, it started getting really expensive, and I ended up switching companies and whatnot, but I've always gone for whatever ball I thought I needed, or just plain wanted to have.  It's kinda funny too, cause I decided to try a 14 to see how much easier it is on my hand, and even though I hate Ebonite, I REALLY want a Savage Flip and V2 Strong.  Don't get it.  But most of my stuff either goes to my brother or one of my friends.  Or I trade it here . .

I have 6 or 7 balls that see regular action, another 4 or 5 that are mainly collecting dust and 5 NIBs sitting here in my office waiting for the right situation to get drilled.

I continuously watch ebay for good deals, and often buy NIBs that I have no use for at the time.  I know that at that price I can always find someone who can put them to use for a little profit if I don't end up drilling them myself.

I consider myself fortunate to have a job & a place to live.

Unfortunatly unless someone I can find someone to trade with me for a heavier particle, I'll only have 2 balls for use this year, my pearl urethane & my Voodoo.

I've got a perfectly good Igniter that will sit in my computer room waiting for a new home, It just doesn't work for me.

I guess that's why I can bowl my average consistantly no matter where I go though. I'm used to having to adjust.

The wife thing was an issure a couple of years back, not she is totally in the dark and I do not have to worry about her saying much.

It goes like this-----money I win in bowling goes directly back into bowling equipment. The leagues I bowl in I usually take home some cash from brackets jackpots etc....she just never knows about it. I used to come home and brag how much I won, now, I never say a word and she asks. Rarely do I tell her the full amount.

So my bowling habit funds my equipment habit. I have to keep it from the wife though.......

Does this make me a total cornholio?
