I have a balls that i am thinking about redrilling. It being a Cell pearl, it is just to strong with the 5x3 layout I have on it. It is to condition specific and burns up way to much energy, have tried all surface changes, and the best i have found is 4000 abralon polished. I am thining I want to try a 5 1/2 to 5 3/4 pin to PAP witha 4.5 to 5 inch MB.

I have never had a ball redrilled, I have always sold them if they didn't roll right, but I want to give the ball a second chance. I am just worried that plugging and redrilling in a different spot makes the ball lose some of its performance that it COULD have had.

The plug work will be a little in my first track rings. Whats your guys experinces with plug and redtrills

I've done it before-on quite a few balls actually. There is nothing wrong with it, and sure as hell cheaper than buying a new ball.

Depending on the ball, color matching is tough, but plug work, if done right, you'd never know it was there.

Some people are very 'particular' about their equipment and would rather purchase a new ball over plugging for cosmetic reasons. I've purchased used balls (try before you buy concept) and if I really like it (depending on the condition), I'll keep & use it. Otherwise it becomes an 'experiment'

Either way, less expensive than new, like X mentioned

But would't the plugging alter the core dynamics making it therefor weaker.

The appearence wouldn't bother me, it is the performance I am worried about. The guy wo would be doing the plug work from what I have seen looks to do a good job. He doesn't have a haus machine though, which would be nice.

I've plugged and redrilled a few.some rolled great and some not so great afterwards.I don't care for plugged balls though unless it's for a span change.Why you ask?purely for the aesthetic reasons.

I have heard about this happening after "x" number of times. I don't know what this number is supposed to be. I have a ball that is on its third drill and no problems in that aspect.

in my opinion a waste of time and money. you'll see different and better ball reactions by adjusting the surface of the ball. dull, smooth sanded, compound finish, polished....the possibilities are endless. before you spend the time and money on a plug and redrill you owe it to yourself to try as many different surfaces as you can.

I have only bought used equipment for the past few years and no complaints. Saves me a bunch of money and I get to try out a lot more balls for less. Really no loss in reaction or dynamics of the ball. Multiple high scores and series with multiple drilled balls.

The core numbers have already changed after you drilled it the first time. By plugging it you place mass back into the ball. Yes after drilling it the new way you will change core numbers again but you shouldnt see a big performance lose.

Only 800 series I've ever shot was with a plugged ball. That says enough for me.

I finally gave my 6 times drilled Faball SledgeHammer to a friend. I loved that ball and have averaged very well with it when I threw it.

I've plugged and redrilled lots of balls(maybe 30 or so). My experiance is that sometimes you can do one three or four times and it still rolls great. On the other hand I've had balls that I only redrilled twice and they didn't roll right.Truth is you just don't know until you do it.Most of the time it works out ok.

Very true. I won a ball spinner and I have tried a bumch already. I have tried OOB, 2000 abralon, 4000 abralon. 1000 grit plus polish, and 4000 abrlaon polished. My best look so far has been 4000 polished, but it is still to strong most of the time. It seems as though pluggin and going weaker is my only viable option as of now.
