Sorry, gang - gotta brag a little...
« on: December 02, 2009, 02:11:16 PM »
As most of you know, I "usta be good", but with the business to run the last few years, I haven't done any practicing or serious competition, therefore, I've gone downhill fast.

My average has been down 40 pins this year over 5 years ago. It's been really discouraging.

Last night, I realized there still is hope. Although I only shot a 682 (268, 211, 203), it was a CLEAN set. It's been years! It felt soooo good!!!

I've been flirting with few opens, but no strikes to speak of. Last week I shot 549 with 3 opens. Not a lot of strikes in that set. Maybe now I can pull it together and start bowling decently again. Of course, last night might have been the fluke, too. I hope not!!!

how can any bodys avg be down 40 pins with out sand baggin?!?!?!?!?!?

How can anybody ask such a stupid question?  Mumzie said: (1) average was down 40 pins from 5 years ago, (2) doesn't practice anymore, plus running a new business AND getting 5 years older.  With all that I'm surprised Mumzie's average isn't down 50 or 60 pins.

gparks,
To answer your questionm directly -
In 2002 I was the PWBA NW Region rookie of the year.
In 2003, my book average was 220.
It has been sliding downhill ever since.
in 04 it was 215.
05 - 206
06 - 200
07 - 191
08 - 194 (uptick - don't remember why)
09 - 187
my current average before this week in the scratch league was 180. I started this year with a serious knee injury, that kept me on the bench the first 5 or 6 weeks of league.

Way back in the usta be good days, I practiced between 60-100 games A WEEK. Now I'm fortunate if I can find time to practice 10 games A SEASON. So I'm getting out of the game exactly what I'm putting into it. I'm not complaining - I understand hard work and how to succeed. My efforts these days are going into making a living
 - because now I work for a very difficult boss (me), and also, because there's just no decent "mid level" competition for women any more.

I can assure you I have NEVER thrown a shot in competition that was any other than the best I could do at that moment. Period.

So - rest assured - it's not sandbagging. At least not by me. Ever.

Mumzie, if you don't mind me asking, where in the NW are you located?  I don't run into a lot of people over the internet from over here.  And, stupid question, is PWBA the then-Women's Tour?  Just wanted to make sure it didn't stand for something else that might be local.

wowy nice mumz i didnt have a question for ya ,i just know how you feel and how sweet it is roll like we used to every once in awhile. i too get busy in life to practice much 3-10 games a week besides the 1 league im in.back in the late 80's early 90's i was 198to 208 depending on the house,as you know back then that was rolling some good games i never got much tourney play becuase i was in the navy at the time  keep those high 6 series coming!

and i didnt use any sandbagger terms in my post, way i look at that is they know who they are so i dont bother them.thats why next year im bowling pba x leagues and me and several others i bowl with are trying to get a scratch league together next fall.so i wont have to bowl my hardest every week and get beat by them. cya
