Thinking about...
« on: October 21, 2005, 02:33:15 AM »
just bringing two balls to league next week.  One ball plus spare ball, I am sucking anyway.  If I only bring two balls, at least I can blame my ball reaction for my poor bowling.  Seriously, I haven't been bowling all that well and I don't think it would make a difference.

Bones, it is really wierd.  Example:

I played 8 board wednesday night.  If I was 8 at the break, strike.  If I was 7, it pinged and left a 4 pin, if I was 9, weak at most likely a 3 pin with or without company.

I missed once to 5 at the breakpoint and carried, miss once to 10 and carried.  Maybe I should play the 8 to 5 or something... I don't know.

Andrew don't think so much let 'er go.  Maybe you are trying to hard and aiming???  Aiming and tension for me = poor releases.  Poor releases = poor carry.  Poor carry = tight muscles, over thinking and lousy scores.  Lousy scores = one to many beers.

It is very possible, but it just doesn't feel that way.  I did okay on my Monday mixed, shot 664.  I have learned that I can generally stay outside on that league with speed control.

Wednesdays is another story, some weeks the breakdown is to move in, others outside with speed control.  I was talking with my grandfather last night, during the conversation I said, "in Minot I used to watch the other bowlers to determine my move, if the majority were in, I was out, if they were out I went in".  That doesn't seem to work as well here in Spokane, you kinda have to be with everyone else b/c of the large puddle in the middle.  Also, my teammates aren't the most accurate bowlers in the world so it is very difficult to make adjustments off their ball reaction.

Marshmallow,
I once saw a pro on TV who was throwing a ball that had been dulled to 100 grit for the sheer purpose of burning a line during warmups....hint,hint.

Trust me if there were a handicap league or fun league, I wouldn't care as much.  But Wednesdays is scratch, head to head peterson points.  The anchor bowlers in this league are pretty salty, 3 over 240 right now.  I have to come out firing on all cylinders on most nights.

nd300, might have to take my super carbide bomb next week.

Sounds like a good plan Andrew. I've scaled back myself, bringing the same 4 plus a spare ball the past month for decent success. More often than not I've been using one of two strike balls- depending on if I can open up the lane (Diablo) or have to play a tighter line (Absolute Inferno). A lot of the lefties have been playing outside and straighter with weaker equipment- but I've felt better playing inside the oil and making slight adjustments from there.
