Title: how many feet from back of house
Post by: Joebagofdonuts on February 23, 2006, 12:14:03 PM: Just wanted to know how many feet it is, from wall behind pin setters to the sitting area for bowlers/ approach? in other words how much room to fit a lane counting work space behind the backstop.

Post by: shelley on February 23, 2006, 08:22:11 PM: It's 60 feet from the foul line to the head pin, the pin deck is about 3 feet deep. The approach is 15 feet. I'm not sure about the pinsetter and ball return mechanism, but you're at roughly 78 feet so far. I'd say give yourself at least 85 feet to be safe. 100 feet would probably give you plenty of room to spare.

Post by: doubleraven on February 23, 2006, 09:12:07 PM: Let see, a full lane length, from the foul line to the end of the pin deck is 62 feet 10 and 3/16 inches long. The approach is 15. You need a 5 foot (min.) access behind the pinsetter (per Brunswick specs) and the pinsetter itself will be 2-3 feet from the end of the pin deck.

I'm going to concur with the previous posts and say plan on around 100 feet (assuming that this is for like a home install, otherwise you'll need a longer building for things like a front desk, snack bar, arcade, bar, etc.)

I had a old food store in mind (good rent), its about 24,000 sq ft. But I would also need to put in a small pool hall for the income. Right now this is just in thinking stages but is something that could happen with the right money behind it.

So what do you all think, 24,000 sq ft. alley+pool hall and a small grill?
How many lanes?
How many pool tables?

I know they say for every lane you need 1000sq ft.?

A pair of lanes is about 10' wide (40" times 2, plus two pairs of gutters is probably another 40"). If you're looking at 100' lengthwise, that's 1000 square feet, including a fairly small pit area. And that's with the pit at the back wall. You probably want a 20' wide area behind the pit for people to mill around, observe, and walk to and fro.

Come to think of it, 1000 square feet per lane might be a lot, I dunno. But with 24000 square feet, you should have plenty of space for a decent-sized house, including pool tables.

There is a small house (16 lanes) close by me that has only one walkway smack dab in the center. Wall-8lanes-walkway-8lanes-Wall

They have a small bar room with one pool table and three dart boards.

Joebagofdonuts- Consider throwing in some dart boards.
