Saw a post about balls dying after X number of games and started thinking how many games my more used balls have on them. After trying to guestimate, came across an interesting observation: after sitting down and counting practice sessions, tournaments, league, etc. I only threw 312 league games in 2003 with my grand total with tournaments and practice being around 590.
How many games did you bowl in 2003? Maybe that is the test of the true addict (Welcome all clique members)

Maybe 175. Maybe that explains why I was 183 last season & 175, now??

Just a rough count:
3 (games)x 4 (day) x 52 (weeks .. never took off)=624 lines
During the Summer leagues I bowled 10 games after two leagues:
10 (games) x 2 (days) x 13 (weeks)=260
I'd guess at 10 tournaments: 3 x 10 =30
ROUGHLY 624+260+30=914 .. Did I improve? Not much!
Did I have FUN? YOU BET!

I would say last year I bowled 207 games total between two leagues (one regular, one subbing) and tournaments/practice. Due to my wife and I adopting a child, I didn't have the opportunity to bowl as much in the summer as I normally would. This will change in 2004 for sure...
I can remember though during my college years bowling 700-900 games a year. Maybe that's why my average was 215 when now it's hovering between 194-200...

About 500 in total. I wondered why I seemed to be improving just a bit.
.
Mind you thats 21 balls per game (rough average)X 500 games = 10500 balls bowled.
I would hit that many golf balls in 1 week so no wonder I found golf a little bit easier.

I'd have to speculate that I bowled somewhere between 1000 and 1300 games in 2003. Most of my games come in practice to the tune of about 20 games/week. I bowled about 55 games in tournament play and over 200 in league play.
What would be interesting is calculating the amount of money earned vs. the amount I spent. I'd probably lose my cookies if I ever did that.
I'll have to keep up with the numbers for 2004. It would be interesting to see where I end up this time next year.

If horse racing is the sport of kings, then surely bowling is a very good sport as well.

Exactly - the numbers should be very interesting. After reading a couple of sports psychology books and speaking to a few psychologists, one thing dawned on me: If you want to become a better bowler, you should have a plan to do so. Something tangible you can hold yourself accountable for.
As such, one of my new year's resolutions is to become a better bowler. Part of the plan is to throw at least 1000 games in 2004

Hmm,
Here's an example, but true with my best guestimated knowledge(aka I hope its right!)
I bowl practice mondays, weds, fri's and sunday! At times I bowl on the other days, but looky below for 2003's stats!
This total 95% accurate,I may have bowled more, maybe a scosh less,I GO on ALL
DISCOUNT times and its easier to bowl a TON,um,ur,when "YOU"RE STILL SINGLE"!!
I've bowled on approximately 330 CALENDAR days that year(aka 2003)
I bowl of coarse the league amount(3)to as high as 27(I bowled that
a month or so ago, because I was frustrated at a certian female).
On an average day I bowl 15 games with no problem, soo there ya go!
Total is 2000 to 2500,(aka really stopped counting after 2000)
true smack,my goal to get 3000 games in one year!
REMEMBER a YEAR last only a YEAR,I didn't bowl these overnight!
This INCLUDES bowling right and left handed!
Also INCLUDES bowling serious and goofing off!
Lastly testing my bowling balls I buy at BR or SM!
This year is going off real slow,TODAY I bowl my first 3 games in my
league!!!
1 X 3 = 3
Ugh!That's a long way from 3000!!
Big number hoo hoo!!!!
Bye Peeps!

I guess around 300.

Um, 3 leagues, practice everyday, minimum of 4 games per day,
i think i had an estimate of something like 1800 or more.
i remember one year my father figured out how much we spent on bowling, and i spent about 2000 on bowling gear and about 4000 on actual games, leagues and tournaments. lol
lets see, i can choose to bowl, or go to college. LOL i'll take bowling! but i want to maybe try out for a few college teams next season, so i'll be living the dream!

About 800-850 games a year. Wow, it came to more games than I thought I bowled after I started calculating. Now I have a better excuse to convince my wife that I need a new ball.
