How many league allow pre-bowl/post-bowl awards?
« on: August 08, 2006, 07:49:09 AM »
The leagues I bowl in don't allow awards for pre-bowling & make-up bowling. Is that common in your experience with bowling? How is it in your leagues?

If you are talking about league season high game/series/etc., I don't know of any in my area that don't allow awards from pre-post bowling.  My guess is it is too difficult for the center, who does the sheets, to keep track of which scores were bowled in league or pre/post bowled.

Both my leagues allowed it, though I am personally against it. I think if an officer of that league, the scores should count but I don't think you should get honor scores for it. If your a league bowler and your interested in getting an honor score, prizes and recognition by USBC, then do what we all do and bowl in your designated league at the correct time!

Leagues I bowl in that allow pre-bowling do not recognize those scores for league awards.  USBC, however, does recognize those scores for USBC awards.  The league has no jurisdiction over USBC.

USBC has changed its stance and does not give honor awards any longer to pre or post bowling. I think we all know the reason behind that decision..... If you do not, look up the name Robert Mushtare... Nuff Said

You are correct the USBC does not accept Honor scores for awards, but they do still recognize the scores for non-honor awards.  Honor awards 298-299-300-800-900.  They also do not recognize them for National honors team or individual.

They do, however allow the scores for average and lesser merit awards.

If you bowl out because you're attending a USBC tournament, they have to allow the scores.  Now that the rules have changed about awards it doesn't matter, but prior to when it goes into effect it is the secretary's duty to turn them in.
