4 weeks ago i decided 6 balls was just too many to be taking into leagues, so i took my favorite and most versatile ball, my Track Crunchtime along with my spare ball into every league (i bowl in 3 and sub in a 4th fulltime) so we are talking 4 nights a week for the last month of leagues using just my crunchtime.
here are my beginning averages before i started my experiment
Monday-207
Tuesday-207
Thursday-216
Friday-218
After a month of bowling my averages are now
Monday-211
Tuesday-209
Thursday-219
Friday-223
I haven't thrown the ball remarkably better, and this far into the season these are some pretty hefty gains in average. The biggest things is instead of relying on equipment and praying to find the right ball to give myself area instead i've found myself adjusting alot more, changing speeds, hand positions, angles, loft, and many other things. I've also avoided the ball switch every 2-3 frames i've been prone to when i don't like my reaction i will go thru equipment very quickly hoping to find lightning in a bottle.
This year i've become very equipment needy whereas last yr i was proud of the fact i could play any board on the lane, and i found myself taking 8 balls into leagues at times so i could play around 15 on any condition and somewhat got locked into this.
Just a suggestion for some people, unless your houses are DRASTICALLY different week to week, i've found i only need one ball to score and a spare ball. It takes the guess work out of it, here is your ball find a line with it. Plus we are bowling on walls, nothing close to resembling a tough condition, we should as good bowlers be able to take a mid line ball and be able to hit the pocket and score with it.
just thought people might be interested in hearing the results, post comments and thoughts
