use a tucked pinky in your grip?  Have you ever experienced pain over a period of time?

I used it for a little while. I stopped using it now. I just move my pinky all the way in. Moving it out seems to take some hook off the backend. So I use that to my advantage.

I keep my pinky tucked under, and tight against my ring finger. Helps me get a different roll and reaction on the ball.

I did this many years ago then after my return to bowling i tried it and began experiencing a large degree of discomfort.  It appears the tucked pinky provided an exaggerated sense of imbalance when the ball is in hand thus creating more "turn" while somewhat tightening the grip (my opinion of course )

I envy you folks that can choose to tuck your pinky or not.
I have always had it flat during my pushaway, but during the forward part of the swing, I tuck it. Always have.
I've tried to stop, and end up with a flat ball and flat release. Sigh.
Just one of those many things about the sport that I have no control over.

Yes, my bowling scores have been a "pain" for the last 9-10 months or so.

Tucked for years,..but I also drop the ring finger (in the drill pattern) to allow for the tuck, and relieve the added pressure from tucking...I can do the un-tuck when I want to play out, and go up the boards....Tuck has always given me a faster release, and more tilt..

FBM357 - I have tucked my pinkie for over thirty years - can't do otherwise now.  No pain.  --  JohnP
