A small goal -- but I made it!
« on: June 28, 2004, 11:01:30 PM »
I know for probably all of you, this is nothing, but I did the happy dance of joy last night in league when I logged my first ever clean game in competition. I've had numerous clean games in practice, but I just couldn't get it done during a league or tournament outing.

Seems everything just clicked last night after the first game. I ended up with a 224 in game three for a 536 series, my highest ever. Only left five opens in 30 frames, four of them in the first game.

Anyway, just wanted to share my small moment. Now onto the next goal ... 600, here I come!

Congrats!  I'm working on 30 clean frames.  I've never done it, but hope to someday!

Nice job Debs!!!  A lefty than can spare! Awesome...ahhh...How many 7 pins?
--------------------
Still throwing pancakes at 'em!

Picked up all eight of my 4-7s and 7s last night. My five opens were a missed 4-10 (only got the 4), a bad shot at the 2-8 (yeah, I missed the pocket), chopped off the 5 of a 5-8, made a nice ring around the 7 on a 4-5-7 (another crossover to the 1-3 pocket on the strike attempt), and my most embarrassing shot of the night ... only single-pin right side spare all night, and I whiffed the danged 6 pin. I never miss that pin! Worst of all, it was in the 10th frame of the first game and we were only up by 11 at the time. Fortunately, my teammates closed their frames and we took the win.

Can you tell I keep track of my frames? I've been doing that for about two months now, marking misses and the adjustment I make to try to pick them up, and my spare shooting has improved dramatically.

Now for the coolest part of last night ... We took all four points because we really gelled as a team and when one person was throwing poorly, the other three managed to kick up their game to cover the one struggling. First game, the three guys covered me while I tossed a bit under my average, second game three of us boosted my husband who couldn't seem to zone in on his spares (unusual for him), and third game, two of us managed to shoot well over average to cover slightly under average for the other two. Now that's teamwork! We ended up taking pinfall by over 100 pins after spotting them more than 250 for the series!

Lord help me if I ever have the first 11 in a row. My knees were shaking last night when I got up in the 10th to make the try for a silly clean game!

Thanks for the congrats from all of you!

deb,
I have two comments to your statement

1. A clean game can seem just as hard some nights as a 300.
2. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A "SILLY" CLEAN GAME!!!!!!!!!!

One night an open bowler shot 300 bowling net to the scratch league. My comment was "great that he was able to do that. Bet he couldn't duplicate my 197 clean game!!!"

Congratulations Debina!

I always feel I've accomplished something when I have a clean game, even if it is a sub-200.  I'm working on a clean series now because I've never had one.  Keep up the good work, and the 600s will come before you know it.

Congratulations on a clean game, Deb  I'd take a clean 190 over a two-open 220 any day.

Since you keep track of frames, I'm adding a link to a bowling Stat Tracker that a friend of mine wrote for Microsoft Excel.  It's pretty neat to keep track of single pin spares, strike percentage, and some other good stuff.

Debina: Great going for that series, I see a 600 around your corner in the not too distant future. I would take a clean 190 game over shooting 750 but opening once or twice in the night. I can't tell you how much better I feel at having a clean 30 frames then when I miss an easy spare or throw an errant shot to leave a split.

Eh?!

I want to do the happy dance every time I have a clean line.

Nice job Deb.  Let us know when you post your first clean series, that's always a good feeling

Debina,
I just want to echo the sentiments above. A clean game is definitely something to be proud of! Congratulations!

You weren't unlucky when you left that corner pin, so shut up about it already!!
