Sorry, I'm sure this question has been asked a million times before, but how many times can you resurface a ball before it goes 'dead dead'?
For a particle ball?
For a solid reactive ball?
For an aggressive polished reactive?
For a pearl?
Many many thanks

It doesnt matter the reaction that determines the number of times but the size of the ball after each time. I think not sure but I believe ABC has spec limits on maximum and minimum diameter/circumfrence of the ball.

There are test rings available for measuring ball size. If the ball fits through the ring, it has gotten below the minimum legal size. I haven't seen these on the Internet bowling supply sites, but I'm sure they're there.

Not all companies engrave their serial numbers. Sometimes they laser them on. I know a guy that has a Blood Beast that's been resurfaced about 5 times. The label and serial number were gone but he engraved the serial number back into the ball.

Every once in awhile a company will release blems that came out of the mold to small. Dont ask me how because I dont know. I do know that i bought a amf spectra ball by the way that was a blem lablel for amf. it was suposed to be a night hawk and when i asked the seller what the blem was he had no idea or at least said he didnt. Come to find out it they were small in diameter, my quater scale fitted very very losely on it. I had bought a case of the damn things and got stuck with them. I ended up throwing them in the garbage. So if the ball is small to begin with and you resurface it a couple of times, even though you can read the serial numbers doesnt mean it is leagal. Just an thought though.

Just wondering in relation to visible serial numbers, is the ball illegal if the balance hole is drilled thru it?(not sure if the rule on serial nos. covers this) It's sort of going to affect what stuff i take to my next tourney. It's on a Pulse i still have the box for so is the serial no. on the box anywhere?
