Lead in Jeopardy because of Tendonitis
« on: August 07, 2004, 03:24:13 AM »
Last night was the final straw, my team is in first place and I did not have the power I needed to over come the very dry lane conditions that were presented last night.  Our lead is in jeopardy becuase of my tendonitis.

Several years ago I pulled a tendon in my elbow and the pain has not gone away.  I have had to reduece my power and try other releases to reduce the pain.  I was the strongest member on my team with a 200 plus average now I am lucky to have a 180 avg.  I have started wearing a rubber like sleeve that keeps my elbow warm as I bowl and it has helped some.  My pain is on the outside of the elbow and my doctor suggests that I stop bowling.  That is not an option.  I have cut back my bowling to one league and pratice on Sundays about 10 games total a week.

My questions to the board, "Has anyone been able to get rid of the pain?  What did you do to get rid of the pain?  Did exercise help and if so what specific exercise did you do?  Is there a stretch that has helped you to warm up the elbow tendons before you bowl?"

Any help is appreciated.

I have chronic tendinitis of the wrist.  I hate to tell you this, but it won't go away without strong anti-inflammatories, rehab and rest. Given that you have not been willing to do that, you may have to have surgery to remove the tendon shealthes.

I use a wrist SUPPORT (not a dial a hook brace) - it's a glove with either metal or hard plastic to support the wrist while I bowl. I can still move the wrist, but I have support.
I have horrible tendonitis - both on the inside and outside of the elbow. I've been in physical therapy 3 times now... And the bowling is NOT the main cause. IT'S THE COMPUTER!!! Specifically, the mouse. So you might want to think about that too. I took 2 weeks off bowling. Never touched the ball. It got worse.

If you need any more details, message me - I can give you some ideas that work for me.

Two words, magnetic therapy. Without it, I couldn't bowl.
