Any bowling books you'd recommend?
« on: May 04, 2005, 01:24:48 PM »
Just because I love to read about bowling at lunch at work.    Anything good out there you'd recommend?  Right now I have Bowling Fundamentals and Bowling 200+, but both are a bit outdated.  I'd like something a bit more recent, but if there's anything that's considered a "definitive" book on bowling I'd take that too!

I second John Jowdy's Bowling Execution, plus I would add Dean Hinitz's Focused For Bowling.

One that may be a little outdated in small parts but not outdated in terms of great fundamentals would be Par Bowling from Tom Kouros.

Some of these books you should have no problem getting through online book stores, but Par Bowling you may have to get through a local library.

I've heard that Jowdy book recommended before.  May have to pick that one up.

Par Bowling the Challenge by Thomas Kouros is definitely a must have for your bowling book collection.

Bowling Execution is a great book, and so is Focused for Bowling . . . Not sure if they still have it, but Amazon did have a packaged deal where you could buy the books together.

For new books and videos ebay is always a good place to start.  Bowling Execution and Focused For Bowling are $10.00 + shipping each for new copies.  A couple of titles by Bill Taylor are also on ebay, of these - What Ever Happened to Don Carter - is very good.  I found these on ebay by doing a general search for bowling...there are a lot of pages to look thru.  The seller had several copies.  Also, half.com has bowling titles at different times.... Dick Ritger has a video series of his basic instruction which is worth having.  If you don't want to enjoy searching, and you don't mind spending a few extra bucks go to this link -
