How much does your shop charge for the following:

The fallowing prices are with tax included and grips and slug are always included, if needed.

Youngstown/Boardman Ohio

Maxim - $59.99 plus tax, $63.89 with tax
RXS300 - $154.99 plus tax, $165.04 with tax
Bash - $119.99 plus tax, $127.80 with tax
Clash - $119.99 plus tax, $127.80 with tax
Fury Pearl - $189.99 plus tax, $202.34 with tax
Attitude Shift - $189.99 plus tax, $202.34 with tax
Illusion - $139.99 plus tax, $149.09 with tax (I belive, I may have to get back to you on this one)
Total NV - $189.99 plus tax, $202,34 with tax
Raid - $154.99 plus tax, $165.04 with tax

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your prices are CHEEP! I'm sure you sell alot of equipment. I'm not sure what the cost of living in your area is, but I know that has an influence on your prices. Here is what we charge......

Maxim: 64.95
Clash/Bash: 143.95
RXS300/Raid: 223.95
Fury Pearl/Shift/Total NV: 265.95
Illusion: 194.95

I've since talked my boss into lowering a few prices. For example, we now list the high end stuff at 239.95. I think we will eventually lower the rxs300/raid to around 2 bills. Those prices include inserts(most of the time) but do not include tax. We also offer 10% to league bowlers and 25% to center employees on equipment.

You have to consider our minimum wage is 7.83 here in washington. We have to charge more b/c the higher cost of living.

Wow! That IS cheap, by any means. I have to pay EUR 60,- for a Maxim - that's about $90... Even though the Dollar is weak, balls do not seem to become cheaper around here

Our high end balls are $175, thats the fury pearl, NVS, resurgance, Awesome Revs, and all kinds of other high end balls like that. Our mid performance like the bash, clash, gamebraker and so on is $125 then the maxium type straight balls are $45. Those prices don;t include grips and slugs, I think the grips are $10 and slug $15 but I don't always use that stuff.

Some of those are good prices. I usually get a high-end ball for around $205 after everything.

What is the matter with a pro shop making an honest living. You may think it is high but look at other retail pricing. This is in line. You are not.

Oh I'm sorry...you might have been under the impression I don't work in a pro shop...which I DO.  Don't think for one second I don't know how much time and effort and cost is put into the business.  But that high for a bowling ball is just crazy...it's not an honest living at that price, it's robbery.

Maryland/Washington, DC Metro Area

Maxim - $57.95
RXS300 - $169.95
Bash - $129.95
Clash - $129.95
Fury Pearl - $204.95
Attitude Shift - $214.95
Illusion - $164.95
Total NV - $204.95
Raid - $169.95

Inserts: $8.00
Slug: $12.00
MD State Tax: 5%

I think our prices are more than fair.  If a pro shop charges more, then there must be a reason, Retail Rent space, payrolls, insurance, credit card processing fees (which can be VERY HIGH) etc.  Everything in your pro shop costs money and bowling balls aren't the only thing pro shops make money on.  When you buy a ball, the profits are spread evenly to cover the cost of the ball, rent, payroll, insurance, cc prosessing, phone/internet bill, the cost of the machinery in the pro shop, drill bits, cleaning supplies(not only for bowling balls but the shop as well), and the list goes on and on.

Plus if your pro shop has alot of experience, attends alot of seminars and clinics, those aren't free.  They can be expensive as well.  A good pro shop should operate like a good lawyer, barber, craftsman, mechanic, or any other liscensed professional.  The more knowledge and experience your shop has and shares, the more the cost should be and the more the operators deserve that cost for their decades of dedication, paid for knowledge, and experience in their craft.

If you go to a mechanic, who do you think is going to charge more?

Mechanic A- He's in an expensive cost of living metropolis area, with many years in his trade.  He was schooled for 8 years in his trade before he even entered the business on his own and he is always up to date on the latest knowledge and equipment and has a good client base.

-or-

Mechanic B- He's in a mostly rural area or town, cheap cost of living, learned his trade from a family member, and he isn't up to date on the latest information, but he can get the job done.

.......The same should apply for a pro shop.

At my proshop, Beans Pro Shop, it looks to me like he charges the same price as an online ball, but adds 35$ for shipping. So say a Total NV is 135$ at Bowling.com (I don't know if it is or not), then add 35$ for drilling, and it's 170$ out the door. I love his prices

I'm not sure the prices on our new balls at our pro shop, but I do know the only balls that get even close to 200 is the Legends/Lane Masters balls because that is who sponsors the shop or whatever you would call it. I think you can get the NVS for around 190 or so. The BWP is 180 I think. The prices really aren't bad at all.

The thing I like most is that when he gets new balls in he usually drills one and throws a few games with it and then sells it used in the pro shop. He has a Total NV with maybe 15 games for $50, sold an NVS with about the same amount of games for $80 and has a Terminator for sale for $100. We have exactly the same span also so if I'm looking for a used ball I can usually talk to him or his son and find something that I need for cheap. It's really nice. He changes my inserts when he resurfaces my bals for free also, that's nice too.

"Monica Visit" LMAO.

Maybe pro shops should start giving those out, we'd be *filthy* rich.
