How to combat toast?
« on: April 29, 2004, 07:20:37 PM »
At the moment my centre is putting virtually zip in terms oil down,Im currently bowling with a super power and a Shock trauma and I'm getting so many 9's its untrue mainly due to the balls burning up before they reach the pins.

I did want to buy a Power groove reactive but being unemployed at the moment even as cheap as it is I cant afford it yet.I have tried speeding up but that did not work I was going to try bowling a more out and in ( Left of center over 4th ) as apposed to my usual down and in.However I'm not too comftable with this. Is there some other technique that I might be able to use in order to minimize the nines till the end of the season ( 7 weeks left ) as I am in serious danger of loosing cash if I keep bowling this many 9's.

Thanks for any help......
I would have got away with it if it was not for those pesky kids (Behind my lane) and those blasted 10 pins.

p Sorry I meant I'm getting yo many 9 counts, I'm mainly leaving the 10 pin with a couple of 7 pins and 9 pins for good measure. My Superpower is polished a little and my shock trauma is also polished but alas its still not helping.

1.  Old ball in the basement?
2.  Technique - At the release at the bottom of your swing (not before), let the wrist break back.
3.  Technique - Aim at an area at 45'-50' rather than at the arrows.
4.  I hear golf is nice in the summer.

When the lanes are "toast" I go to a technique taught to me by an old timer a long time ago. He called it the "suitcase" release. Basically put your hand in the ball like normal, then break your wrist. Now, put your thumb at 9 o'clock and your fingers at 3 o'clock.

Now, go through your normal approach, but keep the hand in that same position all the way through your release. It works wonders. great length, and a smooth transition from the oil to the dry. It cuts hook so much that in most cases it is going to cause you to play straight up around 5-10 board (depending on your house condition).

If you try that and it cuts down the hook too much, do the same thing and place the thumb at 10 o'clock and fingers at 4 o'clock.

goodluck
