How much to you guys practice a week?
« on: May 04, 2010, 02:53:32 PM »
Just wondering what is normal and what is overkill..  I bought an unlimited pass for the summer that goes from may 1st to labor day ( sept 4th i believe ) for $89. Talked to my pro shop guy to find out when he oils and when the best times to come in will be , for fresh lanes. At the moment Im going about 2-3 times a week bowling 10-15 games per visit.. Too much? Average? And how much do you all get out/?

I rarely practice, since the lanes are really different during open play times. The house I bowl at switches from oil to vaseline for lane dressing (all the way to down the pin deck) and my ball ends up being a dripping mess from all the grease.

a pba hall of famer once told me....you get out of what you put in.  I practice at least 2-3x a week, mostly with ritchie on whatever pba shot he wants

well since there seems to be a varied way everyone bowls.. How often do the pros bowl? Highly doubt its 5+ days a week, and If it is , Also highly doubt its more than 50 frames/ 2 hrs , per session

To all you that bowl 20+ games a week. All I can say is WOW!!!...That is alot of money per week to practice. Do you get discounts? If I bowled 20 games a week it probably would work to around $40 each week ($160 a month to practice).

That is dedication to the sport.

When I practiced back in the day, I would throw maybe 6 - 10 games a week.

I don't have the time anymore. This past year I did not bowl one extra game outside league.

I don't practice a lot, even though I know I really need to. This summer I'm taking on a whole new plan of attack.

I joined a PBAx leauge which starts next Teusday. Last Tuesday was the meeting and the house proprietor had a 44' sport/college shot out. Anything outside of 8 board was OOB.

Anyway summer leauge bowlers get 3 free games per day of bowling unless it's Teusday night then it's free bowling until close. I took advantage of that free bowling Teusday night on the tough 44' sport pattern.

My plans this summer is to bowl as much as I can on the PBA oil patterns so I can learn how to play them, what adjustments I need to make, and other things. The pattern will be out Tuesday until 5pm Thursday. Plus another house will be having a 5 week 9 pin no tap PBAx tournament on Friday nights.

I plan on bowling 15-25 games per week strictly on PBA shots because my main summer goal is to get myself accurate!

When I was younger, 14-17 years old I would practice 30-40 games a week working on a lot of stuff. I credit my current average to all the practice I put in when I was younger. I want to average 220+ but to do that I have to practice more.

I bowled for a buck a game, and I don't bowl league regularly.  League is more expensive than practice around here and is at set time.  I can practice whenever I want.

Dedication pays off when it's tournament time, and it could be the difference between cashing or donating.
