Ever had your equipment stolen?
« on: December 06, 2004, 10:58:39 PM »
I was at a tournament this weekend and talking to one of the guys who had to buy a new pair of shoes and replace a couple of balls because he had a two ball tote w/ a pair of shoes lifted from a tournament site.

Our center's asst. manager had a pair of shoes lifted a few weeks ago.

So how often does this happen?

I had three bowling balls, shoes and single bag also the double bag as well. This was back in October- the vehicle was unlock and sitting in the driveway at home.
I hate ten pins but love the game of bowling with just the right ball to take them out.

This crap happens, I always keep my equipment near me during tournaments.  It may piss others off when I drag a 3 ball roller from pair to pair, but hey I now where my equipment is.

When the High Roller was at the Showboat my bag got stolen also.  Was talking to some of the tourney heads and they say teenage kids use the crowded area to just walk up and out with your stuff.  If you stop them they just say "Sorry, thought it was my bag".  This didn't happen until bowling balls reached $200.

Luckily this has not happened to me yet! I do tournies just about every weekend, but most of the tournies I go to, the people there are true bowlers, not just punk kids. So I am not real worried about anything getting stolen. I usually have my bag in site though, put it in the middle of the center, so I can get to it and not have to walk a mile every time I need something.

Unfortunately, this is happening more often.  During tournaments, I tell my son to keep his equipment away from any exits.  He's already lost his Sling Blade, but I think it was due to carelessness rather than outright theft.

2 2 ball bags
4 balls
2 pair of shoes and a Partridge in a pear tree from the front seat of my car.

It happens around here from time to time but usually some of the stuff is recovered.

I had my tape bag stolen from the local bowl.  Tape, brush, ez slide, skin patch, but most of all, all my slide soles for my dexter's were taken.

I had stuff stolen from my car around 1976 or so. They had to have my 8 track player, so I guess they got the bowling balls just for kicks.

There were only 4 in the car (a LOT for those days). The bad news was that I'd ordered a pair of custom Linds - those things took MONTHS to get - they had just come in - I'd worn them once. They were stolen, too.

Linds actually rushed a replacement order for me - I got them in a couple of weeks. Never saw the equipment again, though.

I now keep a ball card with all the serial numbers. That way if they get stolen, I'll be able to at least identify them. I'd look all over ebay to find those things.

I had a double bag with two balls (Columbia Vector two and a Yellow dot), an old pair of shoes, and accessories stolen out of my garage a few years back.  I guess it was my own fault for leaving the garage door open all night.  At least they didn't take my golf clubs or power tools.
