Super FIGJAM: On my lunch break today, I was surfin the web and reading the local newspaper website. They have an annual bowling tournament, but you have to shoot an honor score to qualify. Sadly, I haven't thrown one this year. I decided I'm gonna shoot 300 tonight. I was nearly bold enough to make this claim here, but I wussed out cuz I didn't want to sound like a doucher (I know I do now, but oh well).
I start bowling and throw the first two. I see someone from work who has already qualified for the tournament. I told him I need to put some pressure on myself to get this done. The lanes were wide open, the carry was great, so it was all up to me. Needless to say, you wouldn't be reading this if I failed, but low and behold I pull off the 300 first game! It was by no means the prettiest I've thrown, I got some breaks along the way including tripping a two pin on a fast eleveth ball. I go on to shoot 812, beating the local Hall of Famer four lanes over by 8 pins.
I'm not gonna kid myself, this is an easier house and honor scores are a dime a dozen, but this isn't the first time I shot a 300 knowing I was gonna do it before I even started. Now I know you're gonna say "well then why not do it every time?" Easy. #1 I'm not that good. #2 I have a terrible attitude and one bad break usually sends me off. Nonetheless, under the right circumstances I can dig down and pull one out if I set my mind to it.
Anyone else with me here? Anyone else feel like honor scores on a house shot are just a matter of concentration and a little luck?
