Best foam cleaners to try out
« on: March 26, 2017, 07:10:23 AM »
For the last few months I've been experimenting with using various spray and gel cleaners and now I'm ready to take on foam cleaners. Though about buying the Genesis Elevate foam cleaner since I've read no type of comments or reviews about it. Just need recommendations of one other foam cleaner to compare.

I know that Brunswick, Storm, Ebonite and Ultimate all have form cleaners that says the same thing on how they work. I'm mainly looking at how well it cleans as advertized, tackiness and longevity.

Almost any cleaner can be made foamy by the device used to dispense it. I have a bottle of Valentino's Remedy with such a dispenser, but Remedy is not marketed that way anymore.

Example:

Foam works great on cleaner to ball method. But I prefer traditional spray for clean to towel. It covers more surface area using less squirts.

Foam seems better to enable the cleaner to sit in place, in order to allow it work on the dirt and oil. With the sprayer, I find the cleaner often seems to just roll off the spot in question, in rivulets. You need a sprayer that allows a very fine mist, so the cleaner can't accumulate and roll. Most bowling sprayers do not seem to have that ability.

I agree that any cleaner can be turned into a foam with the right dispenser.

My whole criticism with the foam idea is seeing the foam sit where it's sprayed, and then watching Joe Bowler spread it all over the ball with his bare hands, thus doing what the spray already did, except subjecting his skin to who-knows-what toxins...

Once one company started the foam thing and the rest saw it's sales numbers, and now here we are...

What does the cleaner being in foam form have to do with someone smearing it around with their bare hand?

I've never seen any instructions on a foam bottle or ad saying smear with bare hand.

I've seen plenty of bowlers using spray cleaners do the same thing, then pick up a towel and wipe it off.

You're correct.  No company would encourage the bowler to use their bare hands (imagine the potential liability if they did) but people do it anyway, and then reach for a slice of pizza or french fries.

The spray covers a larger area (per spray), whereas the foam pretty much sticks where it lands.  Either way can get all over your hands, I suppose, but I see it more with the foam because the bowler wants it to cover an area larger than when it's applied initially to the ball.

We probably should all take some precautions for our long term health, but to each his own...
