Title: How to make bowling shoes?

I was wondering, the "velcro" like substance on the bottom of the Dexter shoes - can that be purchased? I was looking to make a pair of my converse into something I could use for bowling, but I don't know what to use on the shoes since that "velcro" is a little different than the standard stuff you'd buy.

Does anyone know what I need and where to get it?

Most fabric/hobby stores (JoAnn, Hancock, Micheals, etc.) will carry it. I've seen it for sale in various sizes at Home Depot as well. So any larger hardware store should carry it or at least be able to order some for you.

Try looking around online. I got mine from a friend whos work carries it. I was able to convert a pair of Circle non adjustable heel and sole shoes into adjustable heel and sole shoes. Only took about 30 minutes or so to do.

Kidlost I remember you posting those pictures when you did the shoes a while back, but I couldn't find the thread or remember who did it! That's actually where I got the idea!

Also if you have a shoemaker in your town they can do this. In my town we have a guy that can make shoes from scratch and does shoe repair and a lot of things like that on top of selling boots, i've never had it done but do know of someone that took a pair of sneakers and their old bowling shoes in and he made the bottoms very similar on the sneakers for him. Not sure how cost effective that route may be but its an option.

It really only requires someone taking the time and nerve to semi destroy the shoe to see the rest isn't so hard. I got the circle shoes from bowlingball.com for $25 shipped with that in mind. If someone wants to pay me to do it, and knows that if I can't they may be out a shoe then I would. I wouldn't charge if it didn't work/destroyed the shoe.
