How walled is your house?
« on: March 04, 2005, 12:16:23 AM »
How walled is your house on a scale of 1-10? Of course a 10 would make it the Great Wall of China, where a 1 would be sport-like hard. I want to make it clear that I mean the house's actual shot, and not a sport pattern that may be laid out for a league.

Ill go...I give my house a 6. Definitely one of the harder houses in the area. It gets a 6 cause it always has something different out a lot. Sometimes a total 10, and then another time its a 3 or lower. Or even worse, it is sometimes spotty, which in my opinion is worse than sport. The night shot is way easier though, but I would not know cause I am still junior and do not get to bowl since it is all adult leagues at that time.

So how walled is your house?

Last night, on a scale of 1-10, my house was a 13 for a cranker and a 5 for a stroker.  I had 4 boards area.  Yeah, it sounds like a lot, but when a cranker gets up, fires a 790 at you, and throws that front 11 the last game, and he hits EVERY board all night from 19-2 and the ball either flies back from the crack, or holds the line up the middle, you gotta think to yourself, WTF?

My house here at school is easily a 9.5.  I'm not sure the oiling machine here knows any other pattern than the house shot.  THe only thing that varies is the amount put on the lane.  It ranges from some->some more.  Never flooded or bone dry for league, and an area larger than Russia.

I have no clue what to base this off of, first off we have a youngster (19) averaging (high) 244- (low) 236. He has shot 18 honor scores in the past 12 months. After him there is an average of maybe 6-300's shot per year and 4-800's. If you include his accomplishments an 8, being very easy, over looking his scoring a 5.

Depends what night of the week...

Thursdays and Fridays for me are an 8 or a 9. Wednesdays are a 6 or a 7. My other league is a travelling league that can range from a -7 to a 15.

These houses are all in the metro detroit area, I bowl league at the first 2:

Sunnybrook-9.5, you could average 200 blindfolded here, I'm at 219 right now there.
appolo-7, lanes break down extremely fast and lots of split leaves. I'm at 208 here.
Shores-9.9, if there was an easier house in the world, I'd be surprised
shorecrest-3, these lanes have screaming backends, to the point where you have to use plastic most of the time.
rosebowl-6, pretty decent shot most of the time, lanes aren't oiled very often though
bonanza-8, nice walled up house
bowl 1-7, pretty heavy shot but playable
harbor-7.5 a playable shot that can be walled up
eastpoint-8, pretty easy house
sterling-6 for righty's, 9.8 for lefty's. This house is heaven for lefty's

Bk, our house isn't THAT easy.  It's not hard, but compared to every other center in PA its "difficult" since PA is full of walls.  Comparitively, i give it like a 5 or 6.  That's if you consider something like Bowl-a-rama a 9 or 10.

Probably around a 5.  It is one of the tougher houses around here.
