How well do you play after a skin tear?
« on: February 17, 2005, 05:31:35 AM »
I know weird question, but I tore a chunk out of my thumb (just too much on the skin in too short a time) the other night bowling w/ the pops and it made me wonder how well people play, and how you adapt?

Normally if I get any tears coming I just drop a tiny bit of tape, or liquid skin.  Its pretty uncommon for me to do this anymore, but occasionally when I just work the skin too much in a short time I might do it.

Last Sunday I was just too tired and my thumb caught the suffering of it and it pushed more than normal against the ball and eventually tore the skin right on the inside of the thumb at the joing (where thumb meets the hand itself).  Happened on the 5th game in the 8th frame so I only had to bowl 3 frames with it like that, but I had to basically turn my ball into a straightball since I didn't bring my normal straight (old Hammer) w/ me.  Still got 3 strikes and then opened the final 2 balls in the 10th, but I had to basially 'drop' the ball cause it was too late to try to fix it.

How about you?

Not very good. Did this 2 weekends ago and had to bowl an 8 game tournament. OW! I had to "skin patch" it like every game.

Yeah,
I hate when it tears the skin away and its a point where you cant stop bowling so you have to liquid it every other ball and that stuff stings.

Now when I see it starting to get the skin rough I drop some tape in there or liquid it before it tears, but its still painful after a while.

Its honestly just that my thumb needs to be redone cause it was drilled a long while back.  Its just an old ball that I still use and my thumb has changed a tiny bit since then so when its on its fine, but when it gets a lil swelling its a bit tighter than it used to be.

Its just one of those things I'm going to do but since I'm getting a new ball in a few days anyhow I'm just going to have em open up the thumb on my current ball, and drill my new ball at the same time.

I teared once. From now on if I tear I quit. That 5hit is too painful to continue bowling.
