How will the new urethane releases....
« on: June 26, 2009, 03:20:44 PM »
Work on today's slicker oils and older harder synthetic lanes? I am thinking about getting the new Storm Natural ball for burnt THS on 15 year old Brunswick synthetics. The back ends are not real aggressive, but there are many nights where high rev players are using plastic just to keep the ball right of the headpin. NO HEAD OIL.

I am a stroker with about 200-250 rev rate. On a great day 275! 5 5/16 pap and 1/8th up. Ball speed around 15-16 mph. 17 on a good day!

I"m not sure dull solid urethane is the best ball for when there isn't any oil front part of the lane.

You need oil up front if you are planning on using Urethane, you still have to get it down the lane.

I think the Urethane releases will be great, alot of houses around here are using LESS oil not more. Also Urethane is a great option in tourneys when the lanes are destroyed late in Match play the ability to play up the track area instead getting as deep as possible is kind a cool. Will also be good on PBA Cheetah, and Chameleon.

Urethane simply gives a option that Resin doesn't, it is not about how much you hook it, it is about how many pins are down when you are done.

My brother and I purchased a Liberator and simply love it. On a dryer or shorter THS it is perfect. Nice smooth move without the big jump on the back. We polished it up for the second shift in our travel league but it was a bit much at times. Now we have taken the surface back down a little since we have gotten the Ogre. The Ogre is a little harder and less agressive and already polished. It works much better on a shot where the heads are burnt.

i think it will give great success to two handers and no thumbers maybe robert smith like one hander bowlers because they can then stay right of other players who are having to get in deep and are not comfortable

You have to remember, urethane has less friction on dry and more friction on oil than reactive covers.  That means that urethane is a better choice than reactive on blown apart lighter oil shots.

I have a Red Pearl Claw Hammer and even on a less than burned out THS it seems to hit the pins with the perfect roll to carry even off hits.  My driller even thinks that the Claw Hammer is softer than a lot of my reactive equipment, but softer doesn't mean more friction per say...

I wonder how much the Storm Natural will be like a urethane Black, Blue or Red Hammer?

Considering it will have twice the flare potential... it probably won't be as similar as one would think at first.
