Dexter SST8's Warranty?
« on: May 06, 2011, 07:53:16 AM »
I just got off the airline this week, turns out my dexter sst8's were ripped in half when I opened my shoe bag tonight.  I'm not sure how you can rip a shoe in half, but they managed to do that.  I was wondering how long the warranty on these shoes were, and a contact number or email that I can reach them?  Thanks!

A couple of friends have had the same thing happen to them but not in the same way. Their shoes also seemed to just break in half at the sole. Dexter replaced  them no questions asked maybe its a defect. Good luck

two things,

1.  if the airline did it, let them fix it, thats not a workmanship issue (they should be replaced

2.  if they broke like the multiple pairs Ive seen break, dexter is pretty good at warranty stuff, contact them

What Triggerman said.  Manufacturer warranties cover manufacturing defects.  If the airline damaged them, it would be their responsibility to fix or replace them.  Did you really think Dexter would replace a shoe ripped in half by an outside force?  Even so, surely Dexter's number or email isn't hard to locate.  Thirdly, the normal path would be to contact the seller/distributer, not the manufacturer directly.

Telling it like it is.

The airlines have a different attitude than in the past years. I think you will find that they are not responsible for damage to bowling equipment. My  last trip to Reno, Southwest airlines managed to tear off one wheel on my two ball roller bag. My claim was denied and was told that they were not responsible in any way. I told Storm what happened  and they replaced the wheel even though it was not a factory defect. You can't even carry a single bowling ball on an airplane, because it could contain a bomb. You can complain to the airlines all you want about the rules or damage to a bowling bag, they could care less.

The SST8's did have a problem with the sole coming apart and a few other issues. I purchased a pair that came apart before they were a year old. First you  should go to where the shoes were purchased.  If  purchased  shoes from your pro shop there should not be a problem. Most on line will require you to purchase additional insurance to cover the replacement. I was told that I would have to contact Dexter to get a replacement and they replaced the shoes without a hitch.

Go to where you bought them 1st and see what they say or try to do. If you don't get any satisfaction there call Dexter and ask for Carol Porter(??) She has always done me right with warranty situations. Most of all have your reciept showing them to be under warranty.
