Title: How would you know if the ball is a blem or first quality?

How would you find out if the ball that you are buying is a blem or x out balls?

I always browse through Ebay on bowling balls & sometimes I get to see some with unusual specs on the ball.For example: top weights of 2oz & 4.90 oz or pin placement of 1" or 5-5 1/2" or discoloration of the ball.Sometimes on the description, they will mention it as first quality or X balls but in a way, How would you know if that individual is telling the truth?When you look at the pictures from ebay,you couldn't barely tell if it's a blem or not.

On top weight of the ball, what do you consider a blem or X out balls?
What's the lowest & the highest top weight to consider that the ball is still first quality?

On Pin placements, Do you consider 1" or 5-5 1/2" still first quality?

On discoloration of the ball, How would you know & how could you tell from the pictures?

How about the position of the MB or Rad indicator if it's not alligned at 6:00 position to the pin & cg,is that a blem or first quality?

I hope this are not silly questions 'coz I just need to know.

i have the same question, and sent one E-bay seller a message just today! hopefully, the colors in the coverstock are off. if the pin is WAY out or WAY in, i won't buy the ball. very simple. same with ungodly top weight, i dunno how deep you can drill out the fingers and thumb to compensate...

Dis-coloration is fine, its basically getting a good ball cheap because it doesnt look good. 1 inch pin is not a blem, I have a ball close to that. Now something like 1/4 or 1/2 is a blem. Top weights can be compansated for by 1)drilling deep thumb/finger holes 2) adding a weight hole. Over all the things you should worry about if getting a blem is pin length, and top weight, if its too high you wont be allowed to drill a hole big enough to compansate. As for the MB and such I am not real sure about.

with ebay, ALWAYS check feedback and amount of deals.

i have bids on 2 Ebay balls, both sellers with over 2,000 sales and 99%+ rating feedback.

X-outs are suppsoed to be visual blemishes. sh!t, my black cherry bomb has 2 other drills (righty) on it. but, i am a lefty: its a new ball to me and it hits like a train! looks are 2nd to slamming the pocket...

Could you elaborate more of your qoute 'coz I got a ball from a pro shop on the internet & the Rad is not alligned to the pin & CG & it's off to the left about 3". like this:
