I just had to repost here from what I said in Wanted/For Sale/Trades.......shermdog is looking a for a Roto Buff. Just got me to thinking. For the younger ones here let's say before 1980 or so this was a machine that you used to condition lanes. This was the machine that came after the towle and the flit gun. There were a few others but this was "the" machine.
Here is my diatribe "Old timers will remember when lacquer was the finish of the day and the Roto Buff was the machine that replaced the flit gun and the towel to apply lane conditioner. Makes me think about way back when......
It's kinda funny all these people whine about lane conditions today but they have NO idea of what it was to bowl on what most would term today as the worst of lane conditions ever. Back then it was all done with speed, hand position and trajectory. No 6 ball arsenals. No worry about honor scores a few 300's in an assoc. a year and that was it. You averaged 190 and it was a big deal.
I just laugh at what the ABC/WIBC, propreitors, and ball mfgs. have fouisted <sp?> off on the bowling public. We've all been had bad.
