Of course, my situation is different - my hubby is a very light recreational bowler - if I don't beat him, I'm harder on myself than he'll ever be!!! Unless, of course, we're bowling together.

I really think it is funny. She just smiles, eats it up. I think she beat me about 4 times in league last season to if I remember correctly. No big deal.
Now the other man and wife on our 5 man team gets really PISSED when his wife beats him. He huffs up and won't talk.... we all laugh.

If you've been married 24 years, lets say she was 18 when you wed, then maybe you could still trade her in for 2 21's.As for bowling with the wife, mine is not very good - 124 avg in the summer league (I bowled over my head, instead of 191 I avg. 211 for the leauge!). However, her attitude is different. She likes to bowl well, but is really just there for fun. I try to support her game as much as I can, and offer advice when she asks (and sometimes when she doesn't). I make it a point to tell everyone who knows we're into bowling when she does well - even if she beats me. She actually threw a triplicate a few weeks ago, and was embarassed when they announced it for the league - but I think she (secretly) appreciated it.
Also, if I was Buzzhead and she bowls that good against you, sign her up as your partner for a mixed tournament, and bet $20 bucks a game on the side. You guys might walk away winners (even if she does whip your a-- the whole time!) At least you might use these whippings to your advantage for a change!

I was bowling to socialize. For a few years, her average was higher than my
average.
I have taken bowling more serious for the last two years. During this time, I
finally have a higher average than my wife. She is 185 and I am currently 190.
She gloats when she has a higher score for a game than I do. She is ecstatic when her series is higher. It doesn't happen often but does happen.
We are very competitive even bowling on the same team. Last week we were both subbing on different teams. I beat her by 100 pins. She was pissed!

When I was married and in Germany...my wife wanted to start bowling with me...(she was from Germany and had never the inside of a bowling center in her life..)...so went one day to see if she would like it..and she did...so headed to the Air Base in Frankfurt one Friday afternoon before the start of a mixed league we were going to ball in and had a Blue Lady Ebonite drilled for her...with shoes...bag...the whole deal.
Went out to the lanes for practice and was telling me that if she ever beat me that I would never hear the end of it.......at this time was averaging over 215 in Germany so told her was never going to happen. First game.....I shot 235.....and LOST!! she went gutter......6.....then 7 in a row....couple tough spares....243........will never forget that game in my life......was too funny and ended up costing me a ton in beer and drinks that night....lol
