I remember a ball meeting that description from my high school days in the early 70's.  I think it was an Ebonite.

Rubber is too weak for what most people consider "dry" lanes now.

An XXXL would be a better choice there.

An Ebonite Gyro Spare Ball on the other hand is a perfect idea.

The old rubber balls break very much like the plastic balls of today (Maxim, T-Zone, etc.).  --  JohnP

Rubber balls don't break like plastic. I have posted this before but I have an old rubber ball that sat outside in the elements for ten years. Took it had it drilled and resurfaced and it is fine. No cracking or splitting or anything. As for hitting I have shot 600 with it and my brother has a 800 with his Brunswick Black Diamond this year. When you get a short THS with total dry on the outside they work great.

Laddog, I think he meant 'break' as in hook.

True, I bowl in a center that sometimes the balls...Jump in the air when encountering friction.....

We had a guy bowl often on the very dry weekends and beat all other lefties using rubber.  I also had an XXL.  The rubber went much straighter and smoother.

For league however where they put out a 14 foot head shot the rubber would NOT move enough!

For weekends and bone dry...the best I've used.

I have a black 15 Amflite I believe, a Black 16, and a special colored 15.....mine!

Rubber really is awesome on BONY stuff!

REgards,

PS a no thumber came and bowled with me a couple of weeks ago......righty, no thumb, little experience.....he threw a 10 bagger at one point!  RUBBER!
