HyperKinetic22 (HK22)
« on: February 23, 2023, 04:27:52 PM »
I would like to help bowlers understand what HK22 is. It has be written that it is a coverstock (HK-Solid, HK-Hybrid, HK-Pearl). I have even watched one video where a National Staffer stated it's an additive that was merged to a known cover. This is the opposite as it was explained to us.

When it was explained at a technical seminar I attended in October 2022, it is a base coverstock and the people in the room knew it was something different. We were able to demo the just released Brunswick Defender Hybrid. This was the first ball with HK22 and it's a great piece.

As stated above, it is a base formulation that additives are introduced to create solids, hybrids and pearls. We saw the formulation without colors or anything added and it was very clear. The previous bases were cloudy. The chemicals respond to friction much quicker but still give a slightly bigger footprint in the conditioner (oil), plus due to its clarity, the colors pop more for great shelf appeal.

As with any ball, surface matters when matching up with a bowler's style. All balls made with HK22 can be adjusted as normal, but I suggest rolling them for a bit out of the box to see what your ball choice can do with your release and angle changes.

There are now many balls in all the brands under the Brunswick umbrella and they are now being introduced at lower price points for bowlers who made need a bit of help to get a later reaction.

Check with your favorite shop to see which can match up with you. Here is the Brunswick link for more info.

The words above are how I learned/see them and meant to clarify any questions or confusion,
Thanks for your time!
