The rain is coming down hard this week, and so is........
« on: January 03, 2017, 11:35:00 AM »
water from the roof at this Bowlmor I've talked about a lot recently...... yes, the famous house I bowl at has a roof problem. Couple of years ago, the ceiling fell on the lanes because of heavy water.....Last November water was leaking on the settee area.

I return this week and I wonder if the roof crashed. I seriously don't feel like bowling there anymore.. I rather sub somewhere else this week to see how the leagues are. I'll return next week.....

Edit: check this out. I ordered food before league started one night at this same house. The lady said, "i'll work on it right now and get it out to you." well, I didn't get my food till the middle of the SECOND GAME!

I'll be brutally honest about this area and say that I'm surprised that this hasn't happened at every other alley in this area.

I'll preface this by saying that I have been babied/fed from the proverbial bowling's silver spoon, in having lived and bowled in Vegas for 5 years, but in moving to this town from there, I'm still rather shocked at how old and run down a lot of the alleys are in this town. in fact, most renovations I've seen in this town have been one house buying another closed alley's lanes, plus 2 other alleys (of the open bowling/entertainment type) being built. Other than that, everything here looks like it was built in the 60s or 70s with very little done for upkeep.

Perhaps if the owners/managers seriously thought about building renovation instead of eye candy for getting customers in the door, there wouldn't be problems like this. You can't get the money coming in if you don't have the building in working order to get the customers with the money to come in.

Bowled there a few times. it's decent, but also looks a bit run down. The tile there is looking very aged. I bowled out of Mardi Gras until Bowlmor took over, then went to CC. Both places are looking run down, as they'd rather concentrate on amenities than infrastructure. CC looks slightly better, because the building is multi-level, but still looks like it came out of the 1960s (because it did).

Fireside is showing its age as well, though you can tell it was built in the 80s.

Strikes (Rocklin and Elk Grove) are obviously better because they were built after 2000, but they are definitely for the entertainment than league, and isn't Bowlmor.

Other than that, the only other options are Lake Bowl in Folsom, Capital Bowl, Fireside, or Woodland. Tough choices for this area.

The guys and I were just talking about forming a team for next season at CC this morning. CC is kinda dark, not sure during leagues, but we go early Sunday mornings to practice... How is CC THS? what's it like... we bowl on left over stuff on sundays so it's hard to really tell...

Compared to Mardi Gras and Rocklin, I'd say it's drier, but that may be from the volume of oil that is being put down at Mardi Gras. For being Bowlmor, you'd think that they'd skimp on the oil, but seeing that they have a fair number of leagues there (they took in the leagues from Crestview). You can definitely swing from 15 out and have it come back, with room for an area check, then gradually move in.

The pinsetters.. ugh. They will however, not let you bowl league on anything past lane 32. 32 - 48 have the wires on the pins, so they are obviously suited for parties, though they oil them as well. With CC being open 24 hours, they oil at night and before league.

However I will say that If you do join a league there, once per month, they'll comp the league food/snacks that they put out on the tables. pizza, burgers, desserts, etc., so check into that.. plus they'll give you a card for 25 cents/game any time you go in to practice so you aren't stuck with their horrible open bowling rates (prime time for open bowling can get up to $42 for half hour, depending on how many people are in your party). seeing hat they cater to parties with the Lazer Tag, you see where their money is going..
