Go Back Or Stick It Out
« on: January 04, 2007, 10:25:35 AM »
I've noticed something, not blaming on the ballz themselves however I noticed since I switched from Ebonite, my average has been steadily going down. It's also a combo of me not caring about bowling as much, but I don't know if they just don't match up with me or if it's a span thing. The span on my other equipment is a bit longer, but my driller(original) switched it and decreased it. He said that it would create "more" Revs but I don't feel it, so does your span really make a difference, or what could my problems be, and please don't say get a coach because I have one.

It could be the product and again it might not be. It could also be a number of other things. I will say however, that recent releases from Track and Storm the last 12-15 months or so no longer match up for me and I was forced to look elsewhere. I looked first to Brunswick which didn't do too bad, but not as good as Track and Storm used to do. Next Legends/Lanemasters which performed way better yet than Brunswick for me. Then I dipped a bit into Lane 1 and I am so overly thrilled with my first ball from Lane 1 (besides the XXXL of which I already had) that I have ordered another Lane 1. So to sum it up, based on my experience of which I just mentioned here, yes it could be your switching to another company(s) and then again it could be other factors too.

What did you switch to, RedBird?

Mr. Lebowski, this is Bill Salnicker with the Southern Cal Bowling League, and I just got a, an informal report, that a member of your team, uh, Walter Sobchak, drew a firearm during league play. If this is true of course, it contravenes a number of the league's by-laws, and article 27 of the league...

I'm curious, what made you switch?  I know you had a lot of luck with the Overtime and other Hammer/Ebo offerings, why the switch to RG?

Ahh yes, I remember a bit now, RedBird.  You started in on the "ball of the month" club.    I've fallen into that trap myself!

Umm Ebonite, big backends....Since when?....Ebonite has always been known for how their balls read the midlane, which makes them perfect candidates for oil.

I wanted to try something else and see what was out there, but unfortunately it's not the same reaction that I've seen before however, it's not necessarily a great one. Yeh im trying to turn in my "ball of the month" membership card. My overtime was great however it has seen it's last day. With all the games that's on it, over 300, It's hook and backend has minimized so I think it's time for the retirement graveyard. I got a Rotogrip Horizon solid that's sitting in my room but i'm not sure if i should do anything with it though.

Often backend goes away on pearls as surface roughness increases with use.
(balls tend to gravitate towards 800 grit).

Often just a resand up to it's box level and polish again with Ebonite Factory Polish...good as new!  Often just hooking earlier which decreases backend!
