I finally did it!
« on: July 27, 2008, 07:53:46 AM »
It's not a big accomplishment to most of you, but after six years of bowling, many lessons, lots of bowling balls that didn't have any magic in them, etc., I finally got my first 600 on Friday night.  I've had loads of 590-somethings over the past two years, but I couldn't crack the barrier.  Last week in league, I needed a 183 to do it, but it wasn't meant to be.  Ended that night with a 589.  So this past Friday, I stopped doing the math and just bowled.  195-222-189 for a 606.  Had I done the math, I'd have known going into the tenth that I needed another 183.  That would have freaked me out.

Anyway, as I said, it's not a huge accomplishment to others, but I fought long and hard for it.  Now to get the second one ...

Debina: Great job, keep up the excellent work. Once you've thrown your first 600, many more will follow. Keep setting goals and moving onward and upward in your quest for quality bowling.

Very nice shooting!  I'm sure you'll have plenty more of those in the not so distant future.

Thanks, all!  Best part was I missed one easy spare all night.  Only three opens, one in each game, and was clean until the 10th in the last game when I left the 3-6-7 split.  I was such a choke artist!

Debina, congratulations on your first 600 series.  Nice bowling.  Sometimes too much thinking causes performance anxieties.

Good job!

This is what you should always do.  Thinking about what you need to get X score/win/etc. just gets you in trouble.  I always approach the 10th frame of every game with the same "I have to punch out" mentality.  I don't even look at the scoring monitors except to see what frame we're in when it's getting late in the game.

Well, throwing those southpaw drilled bangers, no wonder it took you so long ,  JK!

Congrats on the accomplishment.  In todays bowling environment a 600 may SEEM simple, but not so long ago, I can recall a time when 600 was the benchmark for a PROFESSIONAL bowler and you only had to average 190 ( 570 series ) to turn pro!

Keep up the good work.  Like many have said, the first one is always the hardest.

Great job!

Doing the math has ruined many a night for all of us. One shot at a time... I predict #2 is next week.

Congratulations Deb!
Hopefully this is the first of many more to come now that the pressure of breaking that mark for the first time is off. Keep up the great work!
