A while back I posted about bowling a personal high of 186. After posting it i regretted doing it, figuring I was gonna get razzed about such a low game being my best ever. I was wrong, you guys were excellent, giving praise and ecouragement, and telling it's time to shoot for the 200.

Thanks to the great advice that I get from you people at this site, and the encouragement that I got from those same people, I am proud to announce that I finally broke 200 tonight. I bowled a 205!!!

Anyway, thanks everyone for the support and encouragement, and helping me to believe that I could get better with practice and for not letting me give up.

Now I just gotta get that pesky 500 series. lol.

Hey, good shooting. You'll find the next one will come a lot faster. Just don't worry about the score, keep filling those frames.

As a side note, a while back some of the better bowlers on my Thursday league wanted to try something different in our pot games. We set up an eliminator series. The catch was you had to shoot 200 to advance to the next round. Bear in mind, we all average over 215. Easy to do. First game we had 30 bowlers. 20 of them shot under 200. 2d game only 1 guy shot 200 to win the pot.

Moral: When you shoot for a score, you will usually fall a little short. Take every game one shot at a time, the scores will take care of themselves.

I know what you mean SrKegler. I was worried about the first two games and they both were absolutely pathetic. example: I had 13 frames in the first two games I knocked down 9 pins on the first half of frame. I couldn't convert to save my ass. only closed two of them.

On the last game I said hell with it, and just bowled. I had no idea I broke 200 until everyone I bowled with started high fiving me and patting me on the back. I looked at the scoreboard and about fainted. lol.

Well done man! Thats awesome. Regardless of what the goal is, bettering one is an acheivement that no one can rag you for. The skys the limit now my friend, enjoy the moment!

That's awesome! Congratulations on the 200! I remember my first sanctioned 200 like it was yesterday ... well, OK, it was last month.

The 500 isn't far behind!

Congrats on the 200....I still remember mine. Like any milestone score (200, 500/600, etc.) The first is always the toughest. Once that first one is out of the way, they seem to just keep coming. I definitely agree with Sawbones in that once you meet a goal, you have to re-evaluate your goals and keep pushing yourself. Yes, its only a game, but whats the sense in not striving to be the best you can be, right?

I've had a similar situation this year, set goals for 300/800 this year (like every year). Well, I got my first ever 300 almost a month ago (Went brooklyn on No. 11, and I am damn proud of it!! lol). Well, last nite, I shot 279-275-245 for a whopping total of 799! (I officially despise the 10 pin now....lol).

Congrats again on the 200, 500 is surely not that far behind. Good Luck!!

Congratulations on the 205 game. As was mentioned earlier, concentrate on your spare game and the 500 series will soon be accomplished. Good luck and again, congratulations on a new personal high.

Congratulations on your first 200 game. The first one is always so exciting.

As the others have said, practice learning how to make spares and you'll see more of them and probably that 500.

Take everyone's advice and focus on each frame, not your score.

I never look at my score and throw a lot more & higher 200+ games because of it.

Congrats. My misses is at a simmilar point in her game.
shes gone from back up to hook and shes struggling to get the 200-500 monkey off her back. I know like you she will get there and when she does it'll open the flood gates as Im sure it will for you.
