Comparing a Track Heat compare to current balls?
« on: August 26, 2004, 01:38:05 AM »
Need some help folks.... I'm still working through getting a "go long" ball for dry conditions. I've picked up a low mileage original Track Heat. However, I am now trying to gauge it in my arsonal.

My question is: can anyone help me understand how the Heat compares to today's current lower hooking polished resin balls, such as the Big Hits, the Hammer Blades, the Dry Heat, Columbia Panic, or others.

I guess the key factors I could use are comparisons in terms of length and back end. Do the new weight blocks create that much more length? thanks!

Ive found that going to tracks website and submitting a question there is a really good way to get a response.  Sometimes they would respond in an hour or so.

Thanks fot the sugestion. I'd like to get some more real-world experience, also which is not just Track specific.

pjr300--I got a Track Dry Heat last year and it's one my dry lane balls.  Solid cover I keep it 2000 shiny.  Same kind of Heat weight block with a lil wrinkle.  Look at Track website....they explain the difference.  Ball goes very long the way I have it laid out and nice arc at back end.   Length is ball characteristics first and then layout.

Original Red Triton Heat?  I would never consider this ball with the ones you mentioned especially as a dry lane piece.  Red Triton Heat Ball is low rg and big flaring while Dry Heat is higher rg and little or no flare.  Red Triton Heat had a mica cover and Dry Heat is a smooth solid.  Definitely not a dry lane piece unless the mica and or the surface has lost its bite.

Mind you, the Dry Heat can pick up and boogie but all else being equal the Red Triton would pick up earlier in the fronts.  The Orange Triton which preceded the Red might be closer in reaction to a Dry Heat but still has the lower rg core.  I have owned all 3 along with the Threat so you can say I am familiar with these balls.
