I issue a challenge... build me an arsenal!
« on: June 15, 2004, 09:51:35 AM »
OK, here's what's up...

Bought some Blades back in April... Sling, Solid, Particle... Way too over/under for me... So I'm thinking of doing another overhaul before college this fall... (wooo Cornell University)

So here's your task, should you choose to accept it...

Build me a 3 ball arsenal that covers as much conditions as possible...

The only requirements are:

The balls must be reasonable in price... While I'd love to say I can run out and buy every new ball on the market, it's just not realistic...

The balls have to be somewhat forgiving... not worried about UBERbackend and monster crashing, just balls that I can get to the pocket on a consistant basis, but won't hit like a soggy towel...

So go forth, and spread your bowling wisdom on me, the dumb youth of the lanes...

Triple Xtreme-good for oily lanes, like mine so far, but only about 10 games on it, pretty smooth with the box finish, doesn't quit on back end like Fear Factor.

Hot Rod Pro Stock-this ball hooks, but gets down the lane much cleaner than the Triple.  Very nice carry, hits very good flush and half pocket.

Barbed Wire-like this ball for dry lanes, good control, almost rolly reaction.  Gotta have some dry back ends, put it up on oil.

Hope this helps ya....

Hmmmm....an arsenal huh?

Maybe a Ruger 10-22 for plinking, nice Remington 30-06 for long range and some sniping, or a 723. Then a good 12 gauge. Possibly a couple pistols for single pin spares....a Walther PPK for good concealment and maybe a Glock for more pop.

Good Hunting, and carry those corners

That's my kind of arsenal, although I would throw a 44Mag in there

But as far as BOWLING arsenals

Visionary

Charcoal Executioner (box or sanded)/ Granite Gargoyle/ Burgandy Gryphon- Oil In that order.
Based on the way you say you play down the 10 in oil (like me) The charcoal
should work for you.  The cover is also very versital.

Charcoal Executioner (polished drilled weaker)/ Crimson Executioner med oil
I use a Charcoal drilled 315 polished and can play down the 10 or open it up
as the med dries up.

Green Gargoyle/Slate Blue Gargoyle  light to dry
I have both  The blue was suprisingly strong yet controlled for a uerathane.

How about what is your PAP location and amount of revs? Degree of axis rotation? What surface level did you keep your current equipment at? What type of bowling facilities do you see at school? (wood, synthetic or guardian) What pattern lengths and volumes do you mostly see? It all about the details. Mostly over/under can be dealt with through surface adjustment or drill patterns. Asking for someone to bounce you an arsenal sight unseen is a total crap shoot!! I see you said the hammers were to over/under but did not state that on your Track equipment. Their are a few new balls out that utilize about the same core series as is used in the Money and heat 2. (Sheer Havoc, Crash) Don't want to sound overbearing but all information makes making a choice easier. Too many people will give you what worked for them regardless of the difference in style or roll as compared to you.

Ah yes, an arsenal ....... hmmmm...... perhaps a Browning .380 for concealed carry (I have a license, do you?), a Beretta 9mm with a number of pre-ban 15 round magazines, a .44 Magnum revolver with at least a 9" barrel and a scope, a Mossberg or Remington 12 gauge riot shotgun with magazine extender, and for long range problems a Remington 700 BDL in .308 (mainly because practice ammo is cheap and easy to get, and the ballistics are about the same as a 30-06) with a 4x to 8x variable scope.

Oh, you did not mean that kind of an arsenal??? You mean bowling balls>

How 'bout an old Track Champ, a Burnswick Red Fuze, a Stinger 2 piece and an original Blue dot? That's mine, plus about a dozen more in the garage, some new, some old.

Lots of Luck!!

I would go with

1) Ultimate Inferno for the heavy oil, very versatile ball have seen many thrown

2) Then when the lanes get skid/flippy something medium to low load particle like
an Eliminator or a shined up Warp Zone

3) For the dry lane you would want a SlayR or a Frenzy

Sling Blade for mediums
Sharp Blade for heavier

That will do you as long as you are not afraid to adjust.
