K guys, heres another Sawbones type post hehe
Ok, so, we have our game of bowling, it has 4 basic parts, the person, the lane, the ball, and the pins. As far as I know all have come a long way, except pins. Yes I know they have come a long way from solid wooden pins, and have the covers and what not now, but I was thinking, how well balance ARE bowling pins??? What would it be like if the bottom of the pin was as wide as the widest part that is right above it??? Would we get so many messengers and tomahawks off the side walls? Just a thought...

AM not A CHICK OF BOWLING but I wanted to be in Manda's clique And why would I "saw" pins in half, THATS A WASTE OF PINS! I'd rather blow it over with my storm, and 21mph ball speed on dry shots.

HE HE... Nice... Think of it If the upper part is as wide as the bottom the CG of the pin goes upper so it will spin more and go higher... Strikes will be easier or harder... depends on deflection, Pins will fall almost by blowing at them so maybe the ball will drive thru them... I think strikes will get easier because they are going to fly, spin, kill, maybe you can get one to fly at the foul line... who knows??? But SURELY the pins will fly more, fall easier and spin lots!!! The pins have their shape so they can stand firmly and have more standing stability...

no no, i mean, if the bottom was as wide as the wides part, that would give it even MORE stability

Nah... thats no fun... Sorry I got carried by my imagination and I Thought about the opposite... Well... let me draw and think...  Ehh the CG of the pin is not going to change that much but the pins will be like glued on the lane... See, the pins bottom is like a rounded cylinder... so it stands less firmly as it were a normal cylinder... Try to bowl ten full cans of beer... Lots of pins will stand and your ball is going to deflect like a 6lb ball!!! 7-10 Nation!!!!!

See... Think of it... Its heavy and FIRMLY STANDING... and you'll get more pins that slide and don't fall I HATE WHEN THAT HAPPENS... once on a spare shot a 5 turned to a 10... now imagine what could happen if they were like that

Pins today have void in the center of them...reducing the weight of the pin (making them top heavy so that they fall easier when tipped).  Double voids in some manufactures.
