i know you have probably seen this kinda thing before...
« on: August 03, 2008, 08:46:17 AM »
But i really do need some help picking out a new ball,

i am now a fully converted 2 handed bowler with about 550-600 revs and about 17-18 mph.

i want a mid priced ball (due to funds) and wondered what kind of thing would be good for me?

i dont mind what companies, but i do want a ball which is backend dominant if possible.

Thanks guys!

well throwing the ball two handed for some is a drastic change in style what is your pap do you know.  I bowl 2 handed when the conditions warrant it and because of the nature of release it already stores energy for the backend.

I can second osku about this, because I have been practicing a little throwing two handed and even with a weak ball it still has some good backend. You could take a look at the avalanche series from brunswick, they are farely cheap and have a decent core in them.

I was gonna say an avalanch too... If you gotten both that would be a good 1-2, and you can get them off ebay right now for under 40 to 50 bucks... I know u are just looking for one so I would say get the solid because most people love the solid and the pearl is a hit or miss kinda ball for most people.

550-600 revs is ridiculous, you don't need anything super aggressive, or anything with killer backend. I would suggest a good mid price, mid hook non-pearlized ball. I would suggest a vibe or tropical storm, maybe one of the Raw Hammer balls.

I would suggest a t road solid or a night hawk for oil and an avalanche solid for med. Go with weaker or hook/set layouts. A 5x2 layout might be a perfect layout for you.

Ogre Pearl is amazing on medium  fresh to broken down shots.  With a high rev rate and its low differential it is some thing that will have backend and be smooth and predictable.

Not really that rediculous... it all depends on what conditions you bowl on... have a rev rate of 500 (CATS at Kegal Traning centre a few weeks ago) and i have found LOADS of conditions that i can bearly move the ball on, and myu speed is only in the 17.5 (average speed) range...

On standard league conditions, where you get a lot of drier boards outside, weaker equipment may be fine, but play tournaments and you may still need strong equipment!

You are just fine with the playmaker!

My son is mixing two hand with one hand.  He finds his midlane balls with less backend to be better for him but he is slow for a two hander!  His big backend balls really go crazy and cover the lane for him.

Playmaker would be good as far as the Hammer Raw line goes the Pyscho is the better piece because it has a smoother breakpoint than the Toxic whichtends to be too jumpy off the dry when oob.  If sanded the Toxic does even out but I can't imagine using it in a 2 handed release.
